Yeah, basically Quinoa prices went mental cos hipsters decided its the next big thing. Was a good piece on Radio 4 a while back about Kef (Ethiopian staple grain, also a superfood), and how Ethiopia has limited its export and locked down prices for locals, off the back of what has happened with Quinoa. So Kef you buy here will not be from Ethiopia, it will be grown in the Mediterranean countries, like Spain and Italy, specifically for the wealthy european market.

^ Yes, all the personal data, exercise habits, location information, eating preferences, preferred brands, etc now all belong to a company that's going to market the fuck out of those people.
Similar to Facebook/etc; you're not the customer, you're the product.

Noted as the 'International year of Quinoa' in 2013 by the UN..
.......crop has a remarkable adaptability to different agro-ecological regions. It can grow at relative humidity from 40% to 88%, and withstands temperatures from -4 ° C to 38 ° C. It is a highly water efficient plant, is tolerant and resistant to lack of soil moisture, and produces acceptable yields with rainfall of 100 to 200 mm....
Hence why crops have failed in the US... Slow clap for the UN, let's just hope our friends in South America can continue to nourish its own people first, without genetically modifying or altering its wonder food for mass global distribution.

Sounds horrid. I like my porridge with milk and would prefer it to have a kilo of sugar on top but I don't do that any more. Obviously I will now try this egg method to see if I die immediately..

I would like to lose some weight but food is tasty.
How do I square this circle?
Thank god for this thread. I was worried about my slow weight loss (5 foot 8 and a bit, 71.5kg) and then I read this page. Here be fat dragons. Oh, cake.
