  • Eat & train like a super heavyweight powerlifter and then get liposuction.

    Best way to do it.

If you want to look like a powerlifter with saggy skin on yer gut! Mmmmm, hot!! :-)

  • Hadn't even noticed this thread before.

Was a bit porky. The missus was doing atkins, so joined in for a couple of weeks. Fuck me if it doesn't work.

9lbs down after egg and bacon for breakfast everyday. It's fucking genius. Possibly it's no-booze derived loss though - we'll see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

Any diet that involves a fry-up works for me.

  • I thought that the atkins was called a load of Shit by dietitions? If you want to lose weight through eating protein check out the Dukan diet I had a few friends on it who swear by it.

  • You'll find both of which in Japan.

    Ungrammatical. :)

  • Love it. Lost two kilos through two months careful diet and excersize.
Lost a third in the last few weeks through stress and running around like a mad woman.

Yay! Nhattattack beats the fat attack! ;P

  • Glad you got there in the end Nhatt.

  • I don't think there is a great deal of difference between the Dukan diet and the Atkins diet. I'm pretty certain the Atkins one actually had people go through different phases and add vegetables and the like. I might be wrong about that, but I think there was more to it than the bacon, heavy cream and cheeseburger-hold-the-bun that so many people took it for.

Eat protein and very little carbs and you will lose weight. Whether it's healthy in the long term or if it will keep the weight off once you go back to chips and sourdough is another thing.

Nice work. Unconventional fat-loss strategies ftw. I dropped almost 8 kilos in 5 days through brilliant application of an apocalyptic gastro bug.

That's like 90% of the battle isn't it - actually keeping the weight lost off for a period of time.
For so many people It's easy to just look at where they are going wrong in everyday life, little snack here, chocolate in the evening. Just lower your portion size gradually not over night.

For example my lunch now consists of - 2 apples, yoghurt and a small cereal bar. This is much less than I used to be eating, and only adds up to 400calories. I usually have a small evening meal and cereal for breakfast. I now cycle to and from work everyday as well, It's all adding up and I think I'm starting to lose weight!

    awesome!

my friend and i decided that stress, and particularly a messy break up is the best form of dieting.... she broke up with a guy a few months ago (who has now shacked up with his local drug dealer and her kid and is skidding off the rails, she has had his parents and flatmates on the phone and he now is nasty to her) and she is wiry as hell now. she was never fat before, but now she is tiny and pretty muscly too - not looking her best, all hard and wiry. she needs some softness back!

  • That doesn't sound like healthy weight loss!

  • Down from 13 to 12 & 1/2 stone as a result of giving up sugar again.

  • i eat far too much sugar. but i just don't have enough will power to stop. how do you do it?

  • ok. I have changed my tactics. I'm stopping Fat Club (Slimming World) again and am taking drastic action.

I've signed up for 2 months of diet chef, with the aim of adding in calories when i am exercising. The offer I got with them, covers 70 days of food. So in 70 days (10 weeks) I will have hoped to have dropped another 21lbs.

So by East Beers on the 15th December I will be my target weight (or thereabouts).

  • It's really fucking difficult.

I'm trying to gain weight at the moment so I don't worry about it too much but I try and control it anyway just for health reasons. Even though it sounds a bit simplistic, the two things I find actually work well for me are making my treats better quality stuff and making them rewards for completing something onerous. So I'll have a small bar of good quality chocolate when I finish some work thing rather than a whole block of cheap dreck as I weep into my pillow etc.

  • 80.6kg/12.7 stone today.

17.8% tub according to the magic scales.

The only fat that I have left now is belly flab, I shall see if I can be rid of it by Christmas.

  • how do you get rid of belly fat but not anywhere else?!?!?

i also get food babies. start the day with a relatively flat ish stomach. by the end of the day i look 4 months pregnant.

  • i eat far too much sugar. but i just don't have enough will power to stop. how do you do it?

I have some experience of giving things up but it isn't easy, after a while it doesn't look like a food group when you're shopping...

  • I've lost 6 kg since Easter.
Going to have soooo much fun getting some of it back on.
Good times - let the winter training begin.

  • i eat far too much sugar. but i just don't have enough will power to stop. how do you do it?

    Weening.

Look at the sugary items that your eating and work on it from two angles. 1) eat less sugary versions of the stuff that you're on. 2) Combine it with filling foods.

This should tackle both the psychology and the biological behaviour patterns that are feeding your intake.

Cold turkey action is almost always a bad choice when it comes to behavioural change.

Belly fat is the toughie. A lot of people begin and retain reserves in three places; belly, arse and thighs. The body's reserve mechanisms won't let you remove that easily as bio systems don't usually give a crap about aesthetics. Three things I'd advise. 1) Abdominal exercises to focus on the muscles in that area. The problem here is if you don't want to retain musclulature in this area then reversion is usually pretty swift. 2) Cold condition exercising to encourage the body to preserve the dermal layer reserves. 3) Cannabanoids. These have an impact on brown fat which is the hardcore long term reserves that usually get built up in these areas. The majority of cannabanoids are classed as illegal drugs (cannabis etc) so only do this if you are prepared to break the law in order to achieve your body image.

As for the food babies, these are usually a mix of bloating and water retention. Drink more electrolitically balanced fluids to reduce your fluid intake and avoid foods that make you like a heifer on sprouts.

No offence but your understanding of 'brown fat' looks wrong - can you provide a peer-reviewed reference that documents the presence of abdominal brown adipose tissue in adult humans? I thought the whole point of BAT was that its only temporarily present in newborn babies who need it for non-shivering thermogensis, and retained in trace amounts around the clavicle and vertebral column in adults?

  • Incinerate fat with shit-yourself interval sessions. Raise that metabolic activity.
    Win.

What's this one? Google just gives me a load of boring results about how exercising in the cold is a Hidden Menace ready to kill you at a moment's notice. NB my google-fu is weak this morning. Uh. Afternoon.

  • What's cold conditioning exercise?
And I'd like to hear more about the marijuana diet.
