Off to the Alps to climb at the end of July, I need to be considerably fitter/lighter. I've spent the last 6 months weightlifting to rehabilitate a broken kneecap (the kneecap healed, leaving a tremendously weak leg) but this lead to me putting on a fair chunk of weight.
I was 91.7kg this morning, I need to be 85.7kg in 10 days (it's fine if it's just lost water weight that gets me there) for a wrestling competition, and then I'd like to get down to somewhere between 79-82kg for the Alps.
I have forgotten how to not stuff my face. -

you need a holiday to chicago.
i'm about 5kg up on where I was before the marathon :D I literally just said fuck it and ate whatever I wanted including double breakfasts though.
am back on myfatnesspal now and hoping to drop as much as possible before my next half-marathon in late june.
had a hearty winter, time for a lean summer.

I'm going to keep dropping weight till I reach 63.5kg (10 stone). I won't be upping my diet till my bones heal and I can go back onto the strength training programme - which is at least four weeks away, maybe 6

Errr. You should eat a bit more during the healing period than you would normally.
Your body will thank you. -

I only signed up as I just joined a new east london based running group and a lot of them are also doing it plus we'll have a big crowd of supporters so should be a good laugh.
if i was running on my own then I'd never have signed up.

Bruce, why are you starving yourself?
-
• #8214
I'm not starving myself, I'm just not over-eating. The fractured rib, very close to my epiglottis, makes eating and drinking very slow. If I'm not careful, I risk choking, or having a coughing fit which would hurt my ribs.
I lost a chunk of weight while I was at the hospital, being badly cared for by a bunch of incompetents who deprived me of sleep and served up bloody awful food. Now I'm eating better and sleeping better. But I will not be able to eat more than my current intake until my ribs heal. So the important thing is to reduce stress on my ribs, not to eat more (which would risk causing a coughing fit which would stress the ribs).
In six weeks time, my ribs should have healed enough to enable me to eat more without risk.
I see no point in being below 22 BMI. It wasn't something I planned, it was the result of KCH's incompetence and mismanagement of my health.

A week before I leave for Ventoux and I was 76.3 kg this morning. About 5kg lost in 6 weeks. Losing weight when you are single is a piece of cake.
Climbing is (unsurprisingly) feeling so much easier. Just knocked 30 seconds of my previous Box Hill best time. Ventoux will be easy.

It turns out the scales I've been using for the last 5 months were broken. The foot had partially snapped, I was 84kg at the start of the year and I was under the impression I had been fluctuating around that weight up until last week when I rocketed up to 96kg (prompting an investigation of the scales...)
Back at my parents this weekend (with working and more reliable scales) and I clocked up at 78.8 and 79.1 over 2 days, will check again next weekend for confirmation but I'm pretty pleased with that considering I'm sure I'm building leg muscle and still eating too much cake while audaxing. Polo beers and guacamole-by-the-tub have been drastically reduced though...

1 week in Australia not riding and eating all the foods I miss = 5kg added on from pre-flight weight (might have been dehydrated, but still).

I'm steadily getting heavier.

A week in New York went very much as the below. My scales are currently hiding under the stairs and are refusing to come out until the bad man has gone away.

If work allows, I'll be heading out on either the Beddlestead of Cudham loop with eyebrows. Timing might line up with your lot, but I'll have to decide a little closer whether I want to ride with you ;)

If I ever went to America, I'd have to ride there and back to make up for the calories..
Good luck!
