  • Yes think I may go use scales somewhere else at some point. Also thinking of joining the gym again, probably the gym group, do any of you guys using weights do so at home maybe without even using weights? I'd love to do something like that over joining the gym.

Also are there other exercises like chin ups you can do without a chin up bar?

I do 140 push ups a day. 35 at a time, randomly throughout the day.
I have a nice doorway I can do pull ups on. 10 at a time.
I also have a swiss ball for core work.

The press ups are the only bit I really stick to though. I find i work harder and in a more focused fashion if I drag myself to the gym though. Doing bits at home never nets the same workout.

    Boast post.

Ffs furry, you'll be telling us all that you've got some fancy custom Ti bike next....

Doing lot of press ups at home - like you random times during the day.

Sadly have no where to to chin ups, hence why I was considering joining the gym, but then we've got loads of space in the garden I can do stuff, was wondering about getting some sand bags.

  • 68kg this morning, but after 208 miles on Saturday, no idea how long it will last...

  • My hospital consultant has 'prescribed' me 400mg of Vitamin B2 (just that, no other B complex) a day.

Everything i have read about it, says that it helps the body process fats and turn carbohydrates ınto energy.

    Has anyone else trıed ıt?

It's often in fortified breakfast cereals in Oz.

I have pretty much all these every Monday but I think it's more to do with spending the weekend sitting on a bike..

"bloodshot eyes, abnormal sensitivity to light, itching and burning of the eyes, inflammation in the mouth, a sore and burning tongue, and cracks on the lips and in the corners of the mouth"

  • On a good day, I can sit at my desk for 8hrs without moving to the kitchen, toilet, out to get lunch or even for a peek out the window.

  • The mark of a good developer - being able to sit in your own ordure while the compiler chugs away.

  • After I made some noises about the epic distance.. my kind colleague just went to the kitchen 15m away to get me a pint of water. #thanks

  • @branwen 208 miles - holy fnck that's a long way!

  • What makes you think it was cycling? He could be dehydrated from sitting on a bus.

(I'd rather ride 208 miles than sit on a bus for that long agian)

    fixt.

  • Most developers don't quite hit the same weekly mileages as I do. Not without a car anyway. ;)

  • Hmm one very near my work ; 15.99 a month too.

  • Time for breakfast.
Pancakes and bacon, because I want them.
The gym is good, but I assume that in a city like London where people get up early- it's probably a little busy.

Those pancakes were about a full day's calories.
    I feel broken.

Hmm I think dinner may just have written off a weeks worth of work!

    It was yummy though...

  • So apart from a hangover after 1 glass of wine I'm 72.5 this morning so perhaps last night wasn't as bad as I thought!

  • Squatting last night with patio slabs outside, then found some edgings and was curling those.

Led me to think I may start working out at home more, sandbags and that kind of thing.

Just watch your back. One thing about lifting nicely designed barbells, and dumdbells etc. Is they allow you to get the weight over your feet.

When I was a caretaker. I had feck all to do. So I built myself a gym from 5 Ltr detergent bottles, broom handles etc. I was in great shape.

  • I know it improves grip lifting like that.

    Am watching my back. I knew the squats worked as I'm sore today. Curling was just an edging like this;

But we've got an old metal washing line post with hooks on I'm tempted to cut it out the ground and put sandbags on the hooks. Or would I be better using some other kind of weight?

Where can I buy cheap sand bags?

  • Have you thought about kettlebells? Reasonably cheap and small. I have had a little play with them with some instruction and they seem like a good all round workout. No prolonged experience with them tho.

  • +1 to kettlebells. They are great when you are time limited or can't be bothered. 10 mins is all you need.

  • 72.3kg this morning, I've got several things I've got to attend over the next few days which will test my resolve not to drink, but at least sunday doesn't have a huge sunday lunch on the cards yet.

The rest of today shoulkd be good, with vege chilli for dinner tonight!

  • I've got a stag do this weekend so I'm going to drink all the empty calories

  • 82.2 this morning, took 2 readings at the second said 81.9. Think this may be down to some dehydration though as I had a protein packed evening meal last night.

  • 72.3kg this morning,

    Shit - I've got 10kg on you!
