  • Also, how much coffee?

  • Think part of the reason for feeling shit was picking up a cold that's been going round the office, been struggling to eat for a few days and got some other symptoms.

As for the coffee, usually 2 through the morning so 4 shots espresso, avoid it in the afternoon.

I think our bodies are very different fixedcheese, if I had that breakfast I'd be craving more carbs and sugar an hour or 2 after, if I have a tin of tuna and some fruit I'm fine.

  • ^ Indeed. I do spend my entire working day eating cheese though, as it's my job. Delicious, yet my arteries are probably fucked.

In other news, I have gone from 80kg to 75kg... for now.

  • Down to 83.6, meaning only 2.6 to go! I am aware that I may need to be a kg or two below 81 to account for regained water weight though. . .

  • Bit of advice, on day shifts at work I get up at 5, set off cycling about 25 past, ride 8.5 miles, shower and start work at 7.

What I've found is that I can survive till 10-11 without food (a couple of coffees and plenty water) easy enough, at which point I have fruit and yoghurt. Then around half 1 I have lunch of 2.25 ounces of wholemeal pasta, a chicken breast, 4 or 5 mushrooms and a courgettes mixed together, then a yoghurt.

I've found I'm struggling to eat lunch, is what I'm doing bad for me?

People say breakfast is important, but then for fat burning they say exercising first thing on an empty stomach is a good thing...

I find if I eat earlier, I get hungry for lunch earlier, and this can lead to cravings mid afternoon.

    Any advice?

Are you trying to lose weight?

No its not bad for you.

  • I've lost about 25kg in the last couple of years and gained a decent bit of muscle, due to cycling a lot more and changing from a vegetarian to vegan diet. I've sort of stalled in the last few months, hovering around 68-70kg, I reckon I could do with getting to around 60 because I'm a short arse and I definitely still look a bit on the chubby side. I could do with cycling a bit more and eating way less carbs. Being vegan I find it really hard to find decent food to eat "out and about", I need to plan a bit better I think, take healthy food with decent amounts of protein and less carbs, it's just too easy to pick up a packet of crisps or a dodgy flapjack instead of eating properly. I also drink way too much, not helped by workin in a bar. I'm going with the theory that if I tell people what I want to do I'm more likely to get off my arse and do it!

  • Wow, 25kg in two years is amazing.

  • Go vegan!

  • In seriousness though I feel like it's been fairly healthy, no rapid drops, just fairly continual weight loss due to a much improved diet (being vegan has made me have to think a lot more about what I'm eating to ensure that I don't get ill). Like I said I exercise a lot more now, I used to be a total sloth, rarely ever getting any exercise whatsoever, but now just getting out on the bike, even if its only less than 5 miles a day in the week has made a huge difference.

  • 25kgs is inspirational. I assume the flapjack is dodgy though because of the milk etc?

  • You just have to be careful, certain brands use butter and things but plenty don't. By dodgy I meant more "full of sugar and other bad stuff"

  • Great achievement ltc. Good to hear its working for you!

  • I seem to be losing weight since I've stopped riding. What the deuce?

  • Muscle loss...?

I'm sturggling to stay motivated at the moment - a lot of energy is being used on moving house, but both my running and eating have been a bit of a rollercoaster of ups and downs in the last few months.

  • I'd like to think I had a few pounds of muscle to lose.

  • Our office is being refurbished at the moment so I've been working from home.

I had thought that I'd have had the motivation to go out on the bike before work- but looking at the thermometer showing either minus figures or at most 2 degrees has exposed my flabby white underbelly, as I dive back into bed.

My commute normally accounted for 100 miles of cycling a week, so losing that is non-trivial.

In short, I've become a fatty.

  • Any tips for losing excess fat around the middle? I seem to have stalled at my current weight with a fair bit of excess held around the stomach and sides for some reason. 28" waist plus love handles is weeeeeiiird looking.

  • Specific exercise advice rather than diet at the moment would be ideal, I've just moved to a diet much lower in carbohydrate so hopefully that side of things is under control for the time being.

  • You can't lose fat from specific locations. Well, not without lipo.

  • Yeaaaaaaahhhhh. I think maybe more stomach based exercise would be a good call? Pretty much the only exercise I do is cycling at the moment. Also, less carbs. Way less carbs....

  • You can strengthen your core but it won't remove fat from the area. You'll have bigger or stronger muscles but they'll still be under whatever fat is there. Losing body fat is done by reducing intake and/or increasing output and happens across your whole body's fat stores.

  • I have literally no idea what I'm talking about by the way, I've only lost weight through almost complete fluke. I don't think I have time to do any more exercise than I'm currently doing at the moment so I reckon an improved diet is the way forwards. I think recently becoming single might help, my girlfriend was always one for biggish portions and comfort food. I'm at the lightest I've been in my adult life and relatively close to my ideal weight so I'm feeling fairly motivated to shift the excess at the moment!

  • I obviously don't mean I can't do "any more exercise" but I don't have time for an awful lot more at the moment so I think I'll be better off concentrating on diet.

  • Also, to be honest, drinking less beer would help me to post less in this thread and for any future posts to make more sense...

  • Cutting the booze completely will certainly help loosing the fat around your belly...
