  • Dammit, you're making me feel totes porky :(

  • It's that extra 0.5"

  • 5'10" 64kg stable for 6months, fat has been replaced with muscle.
When I started working out I dropped to 60kg when the fat went then back up to 64kg with exercise and healthy diet.

  • Just kindled Living Lean, some very interesting info so far.
    Cheers for the tip Jones.

  • 5'8.5" and currently 77kg heaviest at 100kg about 3 years ago.

  • 6'2.5 - 83

    :)

Although I'm off to Electric Diner for dinner.

So that will be back up in around 3 hours time.

  • Dammit, you're making me feel totes porky :(

    I'm 6 1.25 and about 98kg... Does that help?

  • 6'2 and 115kg (ish).

  • 5'11 and currently 89kg (fighting weight is 86kg)

Looking to cut down to 75kg in time for Ironman in August. I want to be lean, fast and straight up killer.

    A full one?
    Holy fuck, good effort/good luck!

  • Continued progress - I'm loving this!
Thought I'd check in here as
    A) I find this thread quite motivational
    and
    B) I had to get the bradawl out this morning to put another hole in my belt.

Since late November I've been hitting the gym 5 days a week for a programme of floor exercises, body weight exercises and kettlebells (plus a once a week "turbo circuits" session) and in the 3 months I have lost 7kgs of mass, 12% body fat and 3 inches off my waist. Still cycling the 12miles each way on the commute. My food habits haven't changed all that much, apart from laying off the midweek pints and cutting out refined stuff. I never ate processed food before, but white bread, pasta, flour, sugar etc is all brown now.

When you consider the amount of muscle I have packed on I must've lost over 10kg of fat (complete guess).

I am 5ft 9 and when I started in Nov I was 81kg. I'm now weighing in at 74kgs, and for the first time in 5 years I am sub 20% body fat. Really looking forward to getting below 15% again.

Sleeping better, waking up better, moods more even, more focused at work and above all it's fucking great just to feel like a powerful man again.

  • ^ Sounds like a great programme.

  • ^^ great work

  • 65.5kgs.
Getting close to an all time low now.
    Not really trying though.

  • 83.5kg tonight after the gym. - that's pretty much bang on where I want to be and 6.5kg lighter than I was at the start of December and the whole process.
The month off booze was a massive help - just got to keep it up.
Not having take aways and going to try and keep to the no booze in the week routine - unless it's being paid for :)

  • I know this may be contrary to the idea of the thread a little, but I'm trying to gain a bit of weight, obviously I want this to be muscle not a beer gut. I'm trying to up the protein intake, but it gets pretty impractical at work, and expensive.

Although I'm quite anti these supplement type things, does anyone here drink protein shakes? Am thinking of trying them for a bit. If do, any reccommendations for a value for money but effective brand? I heard myprotein is quite good.

    Ta!

  • I use myprotein and consider them to be very good, not least because they are cheap.

Bear in mind that gaining weight is at least as much to do with getting plenty of excess calories as with getting lots of protein. It may be that what you need is just to eat more. Protein shakes aren't particuarlly calorie dense.

  • +1 for Myprotein

If you are doing weight training - eating a standard balanced meal and drinking protein shakes after a work out will help you.
Im not great at advice on how to bulk up as I dont have that problem!!

  • 84.1kg, 3.1 to go.

  • 100kg in my gym kit this morning with the best muscle tone I've had in a long while

Been doing the same thing for a while. I just eat a little more than normal, make sure I have the calories I need when doing CV activities (cycling, running etc.), drink a protien shake every morning on top of breakfast, and every evening instead of snacking. Been a slow process, possibly because all the running, and cutting out of evening snacks. But, Christmas aside, I've been losing fat, and gaining weight since last summer.

    OK, that's good to hear.

I run a fair bit, commute to work on my bike and go for a bigger ride at the weekend, and go to the gym to do weights about 3 times a week... so am burning through a lot of fuel. I'm nearly 6ft 1inch and weigh just under 10 stone (63kg i think?), want to gain about half a stone at least.

I've upped my general food intake by around 20% in the last month (whilst trying not to just eat crap) but it's made no difference so far, I know the key to building muscle rather than fat is protein, so shakes seems the only way forward, can't just eat a piece of chicken in the middle of the morning at my desk!

Sounds a lot like my lifestyle in terms of exercise. Make sure you load some caleries before running/cycling etc, and replace them after. Doing this without ruining my body's ability to 'run on empty' is the tricky bit for me. I'm not keen on the idea of teaching my body to only run or cycle when its getting quick fuel from energy drinks.

I guess if you're doing it right it'll take a while.

I suspect that lack of protein, rather than lack of calories, would be part of the problem if you are putting on weight, but too much fat and not enough muscle. If the scale isn't moving up, then (while getting enough protein is important) I suspect you just aren't eating enough. I wouldn't be too afraid of eating junk food if you are trying to put on weight. In particular I would be trying to get a crapload of carbs around exercise, particularly lifting. And fatty foods are calorie-dense, making them a good option for getting more calories without having to eat a lot of volume.

  • Not sure if anyone else saw this (and sorry if people have just ordered!) but PBK had a code for 25% off at Myprotein - **25MPBIKE
