My foremost opinion is no one should arbitarily try to "lose weight". Like you I think people should get fitter, stronger and improve nutrition to improve body composition and appearance.
That hypothetical banana contains 30g of Carbs. The same amount as a whole tin of chick peas. Which is more filling? Which contains essential amino acids?
Me too. So why all the crazy pill talk? It's just not necessary and frankly I think this kind of 'take a pill to fix anything' thinking does far more harm than good. People going to these kind of levels to lose weight would need to be dangerously obese and under the guidance of trained medical professionals.. not us!
I like chick peas too. Bit trickier to fish out of a jersey pocket though.

What's a hypothetical banana? Is it like a theoretical pear?

All I suggested was green tea, and a vitamin & mineral tablet if she was on a restricted diet. Something she admits to already being on. Would it hurt to take a vitamin supplement to ensure decent health with such little food?

i basically ignore anything "scientific" DFP sez.
If this is about the homeopathy thing, I have an explanation. The practioners in places like india & bangladesh I spoke of turned out to be prescribing a majority of herbal/natural medication NOT homeopathic dilution crap. I have some of these drugs for proof.

Just go complain to the NHS that you're too fat and let them to sort it out with a band or surgery, it's what they're paid for FFS.

Bleeding hell.
Can't we just agree that, although a banana is not a good substitute for chickpeas, it is a perfect substitute for cake?
That is what I'm using it for. Because I have a sweet tooth. -

Chickpea pancakes, ftw! Seriously, banana's are the devil's fruit. Don't you know they have lots of carbs and also they are yellow and do not come in pill form? Also they are missing out on essentially fatty acid, which is the best type of acid. But be careful. It's stronger than the stuff you buy on the street. I would start with half of a tin of chick peas, and if you're okay 2 hours later, maybe have the other half.

I made bannana muffins on Saturday. They taste great, are so soft and moist they keep fresh for days, and are incidentally vegan. I only started eating bananas three weeks ago, hadn't touched one in 20 years before then - true fact.

The thing with eating bananas is getting the timing right. When they're green, they're 95% protein, and when they're yellow, they're 117% empty carbs.
But when they're yellow with green tips, that's when the healthy fat kicks in, but it's only available in the stringy bits down the sides, and is still difficult to absorb unless eaten with a tangerine pill and a lukewarm cup of blue tea.

Also don't forget to swap your hologram bracelet on the opposite wrist when you're eating a banana, holding something composed of such powerful nutrients in wrong hand could completely unbalance a person.

So...you all have off days, right? Days where you shudder while counting your calories?
I'm just checking as I've been rather bad this week, thanks to Birthdays and co-op pizza fueled meetings.
I'm trying to make up for it by being very careful during the day, but I'm also out too late at night to make going for a run (or anything that isn't sleeping) very possible.
my mum would say to make sure you have days off from your diet. give yourself one or two days a week when you can eat what you want (without, obviously, going insane about it). it makes it easier for the other five or six days. but also your body gets used to whatever it's given. if you cut down your caloric intake, it will eventually get used to that level of calories and become efficient at that level (which means it will start storing fat). if you keep it guessing, it will never reach efficiency at that level.
