Just buy some body fat calipers, not only cheap but also far more accurate and reliable than some magic scale. I find the same thing with heavy weight training and running/cycling some days everything seems a little wobbly then next morning randomly firm.
Thinking about buying some myself actually. The Accu Measure ones are good and only £10.

i'm now seeing the muscles in the top of my stomach clearly in the mirror, top three rows are pretty pronounced, still have fat on top of them though, which is a bit weird!

Snap, if I could get rid of that layer (which is pretty much my only pronounced area of body fat) I'd be at "Jersey Shore" levels of six-pack.

Good plan. I'm not autitioning to be a member of the chippendales (shows age). I just want to get as heavy as possible before March 31st, without adding fat, and while maintaining my distance run times.

This is where I am at too... I have a little tummy, have the eight gently defined lumps of muscle.
The last little bit of loss is proving ot be a pain. Any clever ideas apart from a home liposuction with a craft knife and Henry the hoover?

if you are eating sub 1000 calories per day and doing that much exercise, your body must be in starvation mode, eventually it'll give up and you'll loose that last bit but a healthier way would be to increase your calorie intake so that you are about 500 calories deficit per day from you BMR and exercise needs.
i can't comment on loosing the last bits of fat, as i'm not there yet...

The last little bit is the hardest..... I've been struggling to drop the last 3kg's to hit my target for ages.

I'm going to get lipo for my birthday, fuck this dieting lark

I'm fat. It seems a month back in oz over Jan did me no favours (I had fun though).
Have moved house and joined local gym and will try to sort myself out over the next couple of months. -

good shout, is there a surgical option for maintaing fitness?
i reckon i can hit my marathon target now, and can't be bothered to train for the next 3 months.
runners world this month suggests running further than a marathon in marathon training, and now i've read its ok, i'm going to have to try it!

Cheers Ed,
I'll just keep doing what and wait for my body to give up hangig onto the last vestiges of chubby.

I need to sort myself out....
I've sort of hit a wall, both mentally and physically, hopefully back to normal levels of ambition by the end of today.
Getting a diary for work and exercise, and we'll see how it goes.
How I'm going to catch Ed now though- I don't know. -
• #3089
well your goal is lower than mine, so you will eventually catch me!
dont panic about one weekend, you'll get back on track.
are you still eating double loads of promax a day?
might be a factor....
-
• #3090
Actually had a few days off the promax- had the epic shits, so thought it best to eat some real food.
It was more the fact that post exams I've been absolutely shattered, so reduced exercise, etc.
I'll get it back, just annoyed with myself, both for work and fitness. -

Back in the routine of being starving hungry by 1030am today.
Had a big bowl of porridge for breakfast (around 630)
Hungry again by 1030 ate sandwich and apple
Ate other half of sandwich around 12.
Now I've just gone and brought another apple and orange to keep me going till I get home tonight.
Would taking protein shakes fill me up from say the 9am gap till lunch?

Judging by what people have been posting I think we are all at a bit of a low morale-wise when it comes to exercise- I'm not enjoying it, I'm just making myself do it at the moment.
My heart rate is up and my power is down on for the same exercise, feel like I am going backwards.

Yes. protein will make you fuller for longer. Or snack on some almonds

Surely these are signs that you are getting ill or have overtrained.

I had a bad cold a couple of weeks ago, trying to get back to where I was before that.
Trying to hit 350 watts for 3 minutes last night seemed an impossible dream- not something I could do easy reps of a few months ago

Sounds good, I'll visit my protein and get a tub for at home and work, anything to stop the damn hungry pangs. I suppose It's my body getting used to eating breakfast at 6-630 as opposed to 7-730.

^yes. almonds are also epic on the bike food.
I try and eat every 2-3 hours. And by that I mean small meals.
To feel full you need a handfull of some sort of protein with each meal.
Spenceey you need a meal between your 6:30 and 12:30. That is way too long to go without food if you want to keep your metabolic rate elevated. Well, it is for me.
-
• #3098
Thankz Zed - Hopefully taking the protein shake at 10am (even if It's a small one) will keep me full until lunch time.

I did a bit of a test this morning.
Slow release protein mix (whey, egg, casein), mixed with Instant Oats (low GI) as a shake with water.
8:30 to 11:30 job done. wouldn't do it everyday, but trying to recover today for tomorrow's training session.

Wholemeal bagel spread with almond butter.. Good food. Good fuel. Will fill you up as well
