Leg press is potentially unsafe and certainly gives a completely unrealistic impression of ability. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Man up and squat.

I use to use a leg press machine and thought I was pretty special (scrawny legs), then I tried doing unweighted squats and realised I was shit.
Porridge fills you up.
Bodyweight circuits to trim down the muscle mass but remain strong whilst also working CV.
High intensity interval training to lose fat and improve CV.

I can (brag alert) do 100kg with one leg on a machine, yet I wouldn't even attempt it doing a proper squat.

74.2kg this morning.
Official marathon training starts on Monday, with a rest day.
I plan to try to run it at 69kg, so 5kg in 18 weeks.

found an app called push ups, seeing as i failed miserably at doing the "100 push ups" program, this app does 50, 75, 100 or 125.
have done 4 sessions, I think, now and it reckons I'm a third of the way through the program to do 50 in one go. although, the most I've done in a set of 60 is 13 in one go. we'll see. about to do another set now.
had sporadically been doing push ups before finding the app and haven't been to the gym in ages. feels like my triceps are now bigger than my biceps

I was doing office gym last night (working night shifts see), doing press ups, plank and inverted shoulder presses in sets... ended up getting a cramp in my stomache though that is still there!
Average between 12-20 reps of each per set, did 3 sets before the cramp forced an end to it, but reckon as a one off could manage 35 or 40 press ups.

Tonight we do overhead presses with 5 reams of recycled A3, round the worlds with a fire extinguisher and some shrugs with fire extinguishers.

good idea, not too sure about round the worlds, if the handle broke, that would be difficult to explain

only a co2 one, so gripping it by the canister. These are overhead round the worlds (not sure if there is another type) and alternating direction each pass, the weight seems enough.
turns out clean and pressing a box of A3 though is tougher than it sounds, almost fell into a book case just now. Will save the cleans for the gym.
also added in some low tempo curls with a bigger fire extinguisher.
why haven't I been doing this all year?!

When I worked as a caretaker I had feck all work to do. So I built myself a gym in my storeroom/office. I also had a no elevator policy, which strengthened my legs bigtime.
I did once have to explain why I had 5ltr detergent bottles taped to a spare broom handle though.

I skipped the lift when I was on the 2nd floor but I think now I'm on the 7th it might kill me. #hatestairs

I always run up the stairs. Most of the time I'm sad and try to beat the people in the lift.

Dripping with sweat and panting is not how I like to maintain my professionaljism.
-
• #2169
Not that I'd run up 7 floors to beat a lift though!

I was working at a university. Most of the buildings had 7+ floors. Getting to the 8th floor only to find you need a new lightbulb from the basement was testing.

Moving much further away from work before long. This will mean a 20 mile (each way) commute compared to my current 4 mile each way. Very much looking forward to it even if I just manage it 3x a week. I'm going to have to start eating much more I think.

Is that a pyramide session or something?
I do a minimum of 100 a day. 30-35 at a time. Been doing 150 daily for the last week though. Think I'm building up credit for a lazy Xmas.
My last gym had a pulley driven bench press machine. I would always do 100 Kg as my last 8 reps. I use free weights now, and after 6 months have moved up(?) to 80 Kg as my last 8 reps. The difference is huge.
TBH I never usually pay attention to the specific weight. My gym has coloured weights. I've grown accustomed to remembering what colours I tend to use.
