I'm vegan, gluten free, and fairly active.
I've given up the booze and I'm counting calories, so let's see what happens.

if you don't get enough calories... you explode.

What's a good bread substitute? Or should I say, a "less carb loaded" bread? things like pita/wraps? Not sure I could go completely bread free.
-
• #206
I tend to substitute most stuff like pasta and rice with the wholemeal version, i.e. brown rice/pasta.
wraps are good too, wholemeal ones exist afaik

Ved's diet is 110% protein, in bar form.

So you're going to become boring, slightly OCD and maybe even crazy ? ;)
But seriously, I need to do the same thing (besides the Vegan), however I am waiting to cut the booze till after the 4th of July :)

I actually do wonder what happened to me being cool and interesting.
I only have terrifying small children left for enjoyment.

find a reliable body fat % measuring technique I would be happy to have a competition based on that metric?
http://www.westminster.ac.uk/schools/science/consultancy/health-screening
It costs £25 for them to measure your body fat using a 'Bod Pod.'

Anyone able to reccommend a calorie counting app?
it's pretty easy to keep track of when I'm only having three meals a day (and the same breakfast everyday) but it would still be useful.
One that let's me add in each ingredient as I put it into the pan would be useful for dinner...
Take a look at Tap & Track. http://nanobitsoftware.com/?page_id=74
You can build meals from ingredients, which you can define yourself or find from a library of products and generic food.
I've not looked at anything else, but it works for me.

Are the scales which pass a current through your body via your feet just foo foo, or worthwhile/accurate at all?

'Bioimpedance'. Home test is not as accurate as a clinical test (which in itself is a general assessment rather than a standardised test)

The important thing is not to eat any carbs in the evening. Or morning. A carb at lunch is ok but only a small one.
Water - good water, not tap water which is loaded with added Kcals - should never be consumed with food but it is ok to enjoy a glass of your own urine with your carb at lunch.
Hot food is bad for you. Cold food is worse. Food should be tepid. Tepid carb and lukewarm protein should form 90% of your diet. The other 10% should be thrown away.
Above all though you should worry and fret about your food. Do not enjoy it. Do not use your common sense (Experiments have proved that using common sense actually decreases the body's metabolic rate).
Every day you must look in the mirror and say "I am fat. I am disgusting. I am a tub of wobbling horse shit". The tears you will then start to cry are simply obese molecules leaving your system. -

Im not really sure. I guess if the initial % is incorrect if you consistently use them they will track your progress.

To be fair I know the answer to this threads initial question- have a look at how thin I am on Wigan's 2010 poster.
Result of an enforced liquid diet (soup+yoghurt for lunch, same for dinner) every day for approx six months- I was 72 kg.
I am now 83, I blame bread.

People still don't seem to have worked out that it's all about eating less.
Not true. KCals, not carbs. Carbs are not bad per-se, just contain a lot of KCals
