  • As for losing weight very quickly all them protein diets work wonders but after the inital weight loss it'll be hard to keep it up.

Trying to do something like this for Saturdays half marathon. Partly because I cant ramp down on the training as much as I should, and need max recovery each day.

    I smell bad.

  • No carbs after 8pm - none at all. If you feel hungry and want something sweet then go for a jog. Then reward yourself with chewing gum.

    Brutal!

  • what about celery and cucumber if you;re starving :/

  • signed up to myfitnesspall, looks pretty straight forward.

I just wish i lived a bit further from work, riding in is almost pointless. I might even set up the turbo trainer (shudder) in the cellar and get 20/30mins in before work each day. Going out on the bike would take too long to be worth it really.

The main problem is that I lack resolve, I can plan to get out on the bike in the evening but then something will come up at work and I lose the motivation to get out because i'm half-an-hour later getting home. Same with food, I'll take a nice apple/banana into work for a snack and then somebody takes a butty order and i'm having a bacon & sausage sandwich.

Hoping the food tracker will help me stay focused. Cheers for the help everyone.

  • it's been said lots before but you could just change the route to work to make it a lot longer. you'd be more likely to keep that up than hopping on the turbo before leaving for work.

  • The norovirus doing the rounds at the moment would get you to 52 kg in 28 days.

Yeah I had it back in January - lost 4.5 kg in about 5 days. Not nice :-(

  • Learn not to always eat when your hungry, I honestly think that 80% of the time when people are hungry a drink will do. Even if it's just a cup of tea to take your mind off food.

Eat less, drink more water try and increase your cycling milage a couple of days a week to start off with.

Maybe say Tuesday after work you'll cycle the long way home then the same on Thursday, then on the weekend try and get a good distance going on as well.

Eat as normal and you'll lose weight.

  • I'm losing the flubber from my belly, but it's a very very slow process.

Weight is now stable around the 77kg mark, which is annoying in a way but I guess shows that I'm building muscle, as my waist continues to get smaller.

However- my six-pack is insufficiently defined, this is a disgrace!

Maybe I'll try food poisoning, then if that doesn't work I guess Lipo is the answer.

  • Laxatives

You may not lose any more weight as the muscle gain starts replacing the fat lost. (not necessarily from the same places I might add)

77kg seems adequate for your height and build.

  • Adequate.

You just can't stop heaping praise upon people, can you.

  • I have been going to the gym for about 45min every morning I can before work (usually 4 times per week - mostly upper body weights) and cycling to and from work at a decent (for me) pace - about 30 min riding a day. Trying to fit in a longer rides at weekends.

I haven't lost any weight, still around 103-104 kg but feel in much better shape already; firmer, inch off the waist, stronger etc.

Touch rugby starts up this Wednesday (apparently they're using it as 7's training so it will be on full sized pitches) so that will get me running. I hope this will motivate me to do more running in general and then I reckon I will see more of an effect from the smoking so will motivate me to cut down.

I have also been watching my portion sizes, swapping the odd small meal for whey protein shakes (eg. for breakfast after the gym) but still having the occasional meal out at the weekend etc.

    feels good, so far

my colleague mentioned a Duathlon in September 10k run, 20k bike, 5k run. This would be just before the rugby season starts so might be a good goal to start the season fitter.

  • hmmm trying to drop a bit of weight at the moment, weighed myself after holiday last monday and was a bit shocked to see it was 82.5kg!

i was 75kg this time last year, oops...

so been eating healthily, and not drinking and have lost 2.4kg in a week, i know this isn't a sustainable rate to loose weight but it certainly encourages me to keep going!

should be back to 75kg by my wedding in July, hopefully.

  • 102.5kg
    29.0% Lard

  • Does anyone know of a good website that addresses working out in the park. Im quitting the gym as I cannot justify the expense, but want to keep fit. I run/ride for cardio but i'm looking for a program to keep me strong-ish.

  • eat smaller portions.

3 of the people in my 8 week training are on this all protein diet. I joined them last week for the 3 day body shock - its hard to do. I was going crazy by day three desperate for veg. I lost 1.5kgs - - not that amazing but we'll see another 2 weeks for training = more of the diet. if thousands of french do it, it cant be that bad right?
    current weight 11stone 8

  • 72 Kg. According to my doctors scales.

    Cake, beer, no training.

Surely this can't be a good thing to do if it's not maintainable over the long term?

I think that most of the weight lost through the start is water. But yeah your right once you hit the final stages as long as you have at least one protein day you'll be fine.

I found that when I was doing the protein stages though I would get bad cramps after long cycling, like very bad cramps. Have you found this to be the case at all?

  • I'm going to have to get some scales at home I think, that measure body fat and all that jazz.

  • ^^ Seems pretty good. I've watched a few of his tutorials on stuff in the past.

  • just weighed myself for the first time i can remember just now. 82.5kg, i'm 5'11" and apparently "overweight". HOORAY!

  • Back up to 78kg this morning, no idea where that has come from, he says with the stick of a magnum ice-cream lolly clenched nonchalantly between his teeth.

  • So I'm 5'4, just under 8 stone and generally quite petite, however, over the last year I seem to have grown a bit of a tum and despite cycling most days and eating pretty healthily it just will not go away.

My mum basically told me to HTFU and do 100 sit-ups every night but I feel like that will only solidify my belly into one concave muscle...will someone please tell me there's another way?
