  • I'm beginning to question if I should ever go back to eating meat, which is quite scary. I don't seem to miss the taste but I guess bbq season will tell. I do miss crips though.

  • You will think the same about alcohol too. We are funny creatures of habit.

  • I don't seem to miss booze...but I guess Stanchion season will tell.

  • That's not a bad idea. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending how you look at things) I tend to vary a lot on weekends. I can control breakfast but my day intake will depend on mileage and training type and this weekend, for example, we had dinner at friend's and last night was a boozy restaurant dinner. That's not a regular weekend though, so generally dinner can be controlled as well but I'm usually starving and no amount of calorie watching will stop me ploughing 5kg of enchiladas into my face :)

  • Stanchion season will tell.

Too true. Westerham Cyclery said that the pub opp serves in plastic glasses to sit on the green and drink .. dangerous.

  • There could be some truth in that. But I think there's also the thought of reward for a week of work and the reduced threat of tiredness/hangover due to a lie-in on a Saturday.
When my training ramps up, I start to lose the lie-ins and I'll probably cut back a bit on Fridays.

  • Boom! Not long until you drop a digit off those scales. That is an awesome feeling (that I think I am overdue recreating myself - need to pluck up the mental fortitude to weigh myself).

  • Bought a Fitbit Charge HR - I have no idea what I'm doing

  • pulling the emergency cord and going back on my zero carb 2 week test maffetone thing to reset and get myself back on the sensible eating wagon.

well starting from tomorrow, i bought 2 choux buns to see myself off properly tonight.

  • The fitbit seems good so far. A total gimmick and a toy but it could serve as a reminder to be more active and think about my general health more regularly.

On the down side, it can tell that I stopped off for a beer on the way home last night. Hopefully it doesn't become too sentient and start grassing me up to my wife.

    sensible eating

    Does not compute.

  • Winning!

My mum always said I would find what I'm good at eventually.

  • Yeah, but you get 3x XP points for being restless by the look of it. You'll level up much quicker that way

  • that's just for 2 weeks, I tend to gorge on carb heavy food and I found when I switched to high fat/protein low(ish) carbs diet late last year I only ate 3x a day, felt better and more energetic and lost about 8-10kg but then christmas came and I reverted to all carbs all the time and now i'm back to eating shit every day.

the 2 weeks no carbs thing just helped me get things out of my system, and really it just means no carb-heavy food not zero carbs

  • Right, I need to get back on this waggon. Will hit the gym at lunchtime to get a base weight, and start working properly from there.

Hopefully improved diet and getting out on the bike and doing some proper training with a goal in mind (actually managing to get round the Ride London route) will be helpful.

I've been looking at Fitbits, is there anything else similar I should be looking at?

  • What's a choux bun?
    googles it
Am now convinced the universe doesn't want me to win

  • You need to ride 1200k to get it though...

  • Don't Google what a Paris Brest is and defo don't go to Patisserie de Reves in Marylebone for the best one in London.

^didn't see Hippies post. That's a Paris Brest.

  • Ok, you're all blocked now.

  • Great minds...

  • Mmm. block... of cheese...

  • oh I also whimpulse bought a fitbit charge hr at lunchtime after having had my eye on one for a while.

my garmin does the biz on my running but things like basketball and the other active stuff I do it's no good for tracking. plus the sleep stuff tracking up there is an interesting metric to me as i think I'm a terrible sleeper generally and i need to sort it.

plus I already have fitbit scales so it all gets mashed into one big amalgamation of stats for me.

  • Absolutely plateaued on the weight front but more muscle definition/less flabby.

Also beer on Monday and 7 course dinner tonight probs wont be helping :)

  • Thank you. Quality confirmed? Missed this last year.

  • I sometimes pick @onelesscardigan one up for a treat, he always appreciates them. I'm not meant to eat them as I'm lactose intolerant but it's fucking worth the hassle as is the Saint-Honore.
