I read this article that talks about measuring blood insulin levels to find out what foods cause spikes and therefore storing more fat, aparently it's different for everyone. I'm tempted to buy a cheap insulin tester and do my own experiment, see what foods cause spikes and cut them out, see if it helps shed some weight.

Interesting. I watched an episode of that show yesterday that mentioned some people respond to saccharine worse than they do to ingesting sugar, in terms of blood sugar, at least.

That is solid work, keep it up/off!
My biggest weight loss was 25kg (found most of that again, but hey). Being a massive cultural stereotype, I used to pick potatoes as a youngster and they were put into 25kg sacks. I remember when it was a struggle to lift those sacks so knowing I had lost that much was pretty cool. I would imagine just trying to walk around carrying a sack of spuds and that would make me feel really good about myself.

6kg in 4 months should be easy - Same height and weight as me(ish) and I'm planning to get down to 85kg by March and then stay there but maybe I'll try and match yours ;)

Any suggestions for low calorie drinks that taste nice? I'm looking for an alternative to sitting down with a beer or a glass of wine in the evening. I don't really drink hot drinks so tea/coffee are out.
-

Some flavours of nuun taste better than squash and are a lot better. Anything else that's not a hot drink will be bad I think.

Sugar-free Vimto w/ soda water.
Cordials or whatever you fuckers call it - squash or something.
Lime and soda
Milo, Nesquik aren't so low cal but they might remove hunger pangs for less calories. -

Yeah, any cordials with soda water. Lemon/lime juice and water. And slice o' lime. Mint too.
Some non-alc beers are OK (Sains 0.5% lager). Some are rank.

I drink sparkling water. Pretend it's Cava. Works every time.

• #10318
That sounds very familiar. I drink Cava pretending it's just sparkling water...

Ooh, I'm feeling stronger this week. Push-ups, sit-ups and running seem a bit easier. Am still mentally weak though. That Pronto sandwich keeps calling me...

Reckon it'll taste better once I achieve my first target. It's all I think about while I'm running.
-
• #10324
You think about a sandwich? #brodouevenpizza?
-
• #10325
Pizza is the reward when I get to the next target. oooh, that is going to be good.
Way to go dude! Keep at it man. You'll get there.
I lost about 15kg back in 2010, and in the last year I have drifted from about 64kg up to 68.5kg. Have been dieting for all of January, but only managed to get back down to 66.5 so far, so what you've achieved is amzing! Don't lose hope. I found losing the weight much easier when i was living on my own, as you can totally restrict what is availble to you in the household, and prepare meals soley for yourself without having to worry about satisfying non-dieting people too..... Having your better half on board with you must be a real help, good on her for motivating you.
I hope to get down as close to 60kg as I can before my anual trip to the mountains in the summer, which is achievable at the rate im going, but will be a slow process. But everybody says gradual weight loss is more stable in the long run. I dont really like discussing my weight with people, so mad props to you for being so open about your struggles. Keep up the good work brother.
