A recent study showed that if you’re obese, your chance of getting back into the normal range is less than one in 100.

Bugger, I've just started dieting as my BMI has hit 30.1. Clearly I should have started a little earlier.

BMI >30 last year some time. It's still high (28.2) but I'm a fuckload fitter.
I've been the 1 in 100 before. Cycling (commuting + Audax) and not shoving as much crap in got me down from 92kg to 76kg in about 6 months back in 2009, but that was a metric shitload of kilometers in prep for London-Edinburgh-London 1400km Audax. Fatherhood (a convenient excuse for laziness) followed and it slowly all piled back on.
I haven't been BMI <25 probably since I was 18, if I keep up the running I should get there. 70kg and I'd be flying but I'd have to lose some muscle bulk to do that. I'll settle for sub 76kg.

What would actually be a great design is a t-shirt with @pastry_bot's face and a speech bubble coming out with that statement. That would be motivating.

Just checked my BMI, I'm up to 26. That's 16st 1lb at 6'6".
When I first started riding I lost 3 stone in about three months without even trying. After a few years of riding I did myself a knee-related mischief and had to stop cycling for almost a year, but carried on eating like I was still cycling and got fat. I've been back on the bike for a while now with frustratingly little change in my weight.
What's weird is that I checked what my BMI would've been when I was at my skinniest, basically just bones and quads (at 14st 5lb) and apparently that still puts me at 23.2, the higher end of healthy weight. WTF? How is the low end of the healthy weight range for me 11st 6lb? I have no idea what I'd look like at that weight.
Anyway csb and all that, must stop eating doughnuts and chocolate.

BMI is a simplistic metric and it's applicability is going to vary over the entire population.
But it's the best metric you can get from two things that people can easily measure about themselves (weight, height). Anything better requires measurements of things that aren't possible in the average household (body volume, body composition, etc).

7 minute bumps in the road?
My plan is to ascend 1500m up dalsnibbe in 85mins. I need to lose like 2.5 kg and gain like 15w on last year. Totally doable. To be honest I only need 8 mins.
My weight loss may have stalled. But I'm not doing as much weights, and zero contact rugby. So hopefully it happen pretty naturally as the winter Fucks off.

Have you had your appendix removed? Get rid of that for some easy weight loss.
I doubt you need two kidneys either.

I've been on a long process of dissolving my internal organs since I was about 15. Just before I end up permanently in hospital I should be really light...

I doubt @pastry_bot will be keen on that idea, but if that's what you want...

If you still live round the corner from me I'd be delighted to be a running partner afterwork - I'm absolutely positive you can be the 1 in 100, and would be happy to run with you whilst you get there.

I have offset today's low cal ride with Baileys, a bottle to be precise. Wayno would've been proud. Need to work on my lemonade shandy 'rehydration' options.

Not my greatest week so far, but still moving in the right direction.
Date Weight
04-Jan 122.8
11-Jan 118.2
18-Jan 116.4
25-Jan 114.6
01-Feb 113.7Felt really low on Saturday and my girlfriend really helped me out. She called me into the kitchen where she had filled 3 mason cash mixing bowls with water to match the weight I'd lost so far. When you can actually see it and lift it, it's astonishing how much you're punishing yourself by carrying it round.

Hunger is a mood
Thanks for posting, that struck a chord with me. I'm getting married in four months and would like to shift a minimum 6kgs (currently 88kg, 6'2", 24% BF!, 25.5 BMI). Portion control and booze are to blame for everything. I've tracked my weight spasmodically over the last couple of years and watched it creep up, hitting 90 was an alarm bell.
@I_am_Hingis Seriously impressive progress, keep on keeping on.
