I actually saw a guy today who put his long d long through the rails on his saddle, then locked the thing below the rear triangle on the frame. You'd have to be sure your saddle was up high enough but it kept the thing in place quite nicely.

M18s are self propelled

I'm not very mechanical, icke, but I wouldn't have thought that there is a possible solution than a custom-made mount. I'd go for that if you're determined to stick with the same lock. Some people bungee their locks to their carrier rack, but I'd guess you might not have one. I think that a motorbike lock is overkill.
It sort of seems like overkill, especially when you're carting the fucker around (along with a mini-D for the front wheel), but I often need a long shackle due to my hack fixed being a mtb - clearances in the rear - and it was on offer when I was shopping for something. I only use it for locking up around town. Not in my 'trusted places'.

For the first time, this is an interesting suggestion. Ideas like that were exactly what I was looking for.
BTW Tiswas, sorry for missing your velcro idea. might work, but sounds wobbly to me.

Why using M18? Clearances too large? It isnt the strongest krypto lock either

out of curiosity; what do you have against bags? I hate riding with my phone or wallet in my pockets so I need to have a bag anyway...
Back on topic, in your summary I think you may have missed the Velcro suggestion... You need three strips (like the ones skiers use to hold the skis together during transport), then wrap one around each main tube of the bike & lock so the lock kind of floats in the middle of the triangle...
Nevermind, too slow.

Yes it works, but it's not a very elegant solution. Okay, maybe it's because I can't stand the velcro sound, and having to do this 3 times in a row...shiver
I really start to like BleakReference's solution.

always work out where you'll need to lock your bike the night before. then take a bus there and lock the lock to a bikestand. then get the bus home. simples, you and your lock are ready for the next day's bike destination.

Phone and wallet: in my case, both slim enough to fit in pockets.
The reason why you don't like riding with them in your pockets is the same reason I don't like riding with a bag, very simple: it feels annoying and less free.

** .excellent; there is an episode of Seinfeld where Jerry's dad has the same problem with a wallet.

Because you can lock your bike with it in places where others don't reach, it's really great.
I don't know a stronger Kryptonite lock? Just because it's large does not mean it's more prone to leverage attacks. There are two M18, a wide and long and a narrow and very long, I have the narrow one. You won't fit a car jack in there, for example. The smaller leverage-proof mini Kryptos all have 16mm bars as far as I know, so they are easy to cut with a battery powered hydraulic bolt cutter. -
