Just wait till Balki turns up. Then its all about apple turnovers. Or something.

Anyway, back to your question: again, yes I do ride without other things, but still want to lock my bike as I do not use my bike just for commuting from home to work. There are thousands of situations where you need a lock, but not the rest of the stuff mentioned.
I am actually wondering how you can accept that you have to carry a giant load of extras with you all the time. Riding bike means reduction to what you really need. Freedom.

You are easy to figure out.
I figured out that you're the type to walk home with punctures, rather than repair at the side of the road.
Also that you don't often do medium-longer distance cycling.
You were never in the Boy Scouts.Do you know how much Psychoanalysts charge per hour? ;)

To save you further icke, this is how things are here.
Ask a question that seems a bit too simple.
Question has a slight chance of being answered.
After that, the thread is taken to pieces, because it was a bit of a laugh in the first place. At least to others. -

Ok, but it's not all too simple, because I still did not hear a good solution. I was imaging something like a good idea how to fix a 18mm lock to your frame with something I did not think of.
You have to know, I have a massive metal workshop in reach and it's no problem to machine my own custom aluminum lock mount, but this will take me at least 2 or 3 hours if it's supposed to be really nice and proper, and I was really hoping to save that work and time. It's a lot faster to simply buy something that already works.

O RLY?

why not buy a bike lock with the correct bracket
or carry a bag - its pointless cycling without the basic tools anyway
or cycle to places you dont need a lock
or just fucking give up and take the bus, it appears the above may be a little too complicated
-

I'm not very mechanical, icke, but I wouldn't have thought that there is a possible solution than a custom-made mount. I'd go for that if you're determined to stick with the same lock. Some people bungee their locks to their carrier rack, but I'd guess you might not have one. I think that a motorbike lock is overkill.

What's wrong with the solutions suggested or use a rack, use a lock holster, use you're belt, use a small little bag. If you don't say why these options are not viable how can you expect people to help?

• #37
you lock, your, bike, up? like,
Icke--can you expose the dream world we believe to be real?
-
• #38
Seems like I expect too much, technically.
I just wonder why people reply to this at all if they do not come up with a good idea? Why not instead just shut off the computer and enjoy the sunshine??? (or go on with their work).
Cheers

because mocking idiots can be so much fun
and possibly some of us are stuck at computers and cannot go out for a ride right now
i think you live in the dream world
-
• #40
Oh, you are calling me an idiot, dancing_james? Because you are "stuck at computers", are not helpful at all and telling others that they are living in a "dream world"?
It's alright, dancing_james, dance on.

I wouldn't bite if I were you, icke.

Only a German could come up with a rhyme like that.... ,

Yes yes, everything's fine.

Just wait till Balki turns up. Then its all about apple turnovers. Or something.
I have a feeling that today is going to be about hotdogs.
-
• #45
whats that Balki?
-
• #46
Holy fucknuts.
You have any number of suggestions that would work.
Suggestions made so far:
carry a bag (no)
fabric horse / belt loops (only alright proposal so far)
using a weaker bicycle lock with mount, instead of the M18 (no)
put a rear rack on (close, but no. don't want to add a structure larger than the lock itself)
That's it, so far. It's alright if I expected too much, my fault. I don't want to blame anyone here and I am alright to share images of my own custom-made mount as soon as it's finished.

Today is about Hot Dogs... Srsly.. Put your lock in your bag and head over to Bodeans for Hotdogs..
You do have a bag?
-
• #48
I really don't think there is a better solution than those already suggested.

no, I am calling you a fucking retarded fraggle (the poor relation to a muppet) because you chose not to cycle with the basic tools, have an inappropriate lock, ask for suggestions, are given suggestions and then throw the toys out of the pram
you also seem unable to fathom that a lot of us are working at computers
additionally you joyless cuntard, I had made a couple of helpful suggestions
for this multitude of reasons you are an idiot, and i will claim my temporary relief from the boredom of work addressing your brainless concerns

Actually, I feel like a cheesecake. Thats what I feel like.
