  • and the brakes.

  • Said Dammit never....

    Haha!

+1 here for another faultless BB30 user

  • Basically - my experience is: Rotors are for buyers. (sorry Amey)

But you bought some? Doesn't that make you a buyer? (Whatever one of them is).

  • Yep

  • I buy stuff. I ride it all though.

I'm trying to buy less stuff... Not going that well

  • Maybe ride a fixed wheel bicycle?

  • I heard they're great for simplicity.

  • I love my Rotors. My chioce was somewhat governed by a desire to have 165mm crank arms, and not to mix Campagnolo with anything but an aftermarket crank. But they've been faultless. I seem to have a nack of trashing cranksets. Have two which need replacing right now. But the Rotor, which gets alot of abuse, still looks like new. Just removed it to repålace my BB and its in perfect shape. Maybe I should'nt have been surprised by that.

This is just an uneducated opinion. But unless you buy uber weight weenie, or uber budget cranks, they wont in themselves flex. Any flex thats felt will be at connection points. So precise machining, and an easy install is more important than crank arm deflection.

    IMHO etc.

  • Awesome BMC model BTW.

These bikes are so much fun.

Mine still needs a new right shifter. So is off the road. I wondering about selling off my SR bits, and getting Athena EPS. I'll need the shifter cables to fit into the internal routing though.

My mates Grandfondo is being a fussy biatch. Its obviously designed with leccy shift in mind. Because the massive kink in the chain stay makes cabling the rear mech a massive PITA.

  • What happened to your shifter?

  • I got angry.

My gears sometimes lose the ability to shift into the biggest sprocket over a long ride. I suspect poor cable installation. After doing some intense climbing, I really wanted to get into my big sprocket. I got all pissy and used a stupid amount of force on the finger lever. Something snapped.

I've dismantled, and reassembled the lever. Cant actually see what broke. I suspect I've rounded off a latching mechanisn.

I ordered a replacement lever mechanism, and body. But that seems to have been delivered to canada. So I'm now in a Ebay dispute. The whole thing is a massive PITA.

  • Part of me hope I cant get the EPS cables into my frame.

    It aint cheap.

  • That's a shame.

If its in the process of being sorted it might be worth waiting. But then if electic appeals maybe its worth a switch. I haven't heard much in the way of user experience of campag electric. Is it any good?

Sounds awesome. Plus its more glove friendly than Shimano. Which is pretty important for nordic mountain riding.

I want to repair my lever anyway. I need to sell my Super record parts to fund the switch.

  • I know it's not a thing of beauty, but the reason I went with Di2 on my "winter" bike is that even with bilateral frostbike I reckon you could cleanly shift gears with one of these on the bars:

You could hit the right button with your elbow if it came to it.

  • I could feck it all, replace my rear hub, and go shimano. But I have a deep love for the modern Campag levers.

  • Maybe ride a fixed wheel bicycle?

I can only turn left on them these days. Would take a long time to get to work.

  • Am always envious of people with long commutes.

  • But pity those with campag.

  • There is a good deal on those SiSl cranks here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread113982.html

  • Frame arrived.

Unless I am very much mistaken, that is not BB30?

Threaded adaptors bonded into BB30 shell for Shimano?

  • It just comes with those. I dont think its bonded.

Pretty sure my mate removed his. I'll ask him.

  • Looks great, can't wait to see it built. Are you keeping your Canyon?

  • Ha - yes, keeping the Canyon.

Slightly fortunate that the end of the line discounted frame was in club colours.
