I just trim mine as the full length hairy leg looks awful in lycra shorts. With all the hair sprouting out. I can't fully shave them as the rest of my body is almost at the Robin Williams level so I may end up looking like a hairy lolly if my legs were the only bare part.

Is it wrong that I have just spat my tea out after reading this? Funniest thing I've read in a while.

For a cycling forum to be a proper cycling forum, there has to be a thread about leg shaving. It's what cyclists are known for.

The solution to this is not to leave hair on the legs, it is to remove the hair from the rest of your body.

+1, Afraid so.
Personally I can't be bothered, I'm like a Werewolf and I like it that way.

6 weeks after a leg waxing? I got mine done last year and had hairs growing back after 2 or 3 weeks and then managed to get millions of ingrown hairs so I've decided against doing that again. Just shave them now.
One tip though if you are getting your legs waxed, make sure they are properly grown back if you've been shaving them before, there is nothing more embarrassing than being told they can't wax your legs as they aren't hairy enough!

Hilarious guys, really. Fair play, but it is funny.
The idea of shaving for vanity makes me smile... my girlfriend would be irreversibly mortified if I waxed my leg hair off (but then my legs are more Bernard Manning than Bernard Hinault). I suppose it's for the benefit of all the other cyclists right?
Must be a major pain in the arse keeping it up though surely? And itchy when it goes back?
"hairy lolly", lol.

My girlfriend already, in a pre-emptive panik attack, has banned me from shaving my legs, EVER!
Not that I want to, but she thinks I am edging towards being a cycling nerd now, therefore it'll come. The problem I have with shaving any part of my body is about the rest of it. If I shaved the downstairs department, I'd have to shave my belly and all that ... Just can't be arsed. Occasional trim of the private regions it is, and I lave the legs alone.

If I had the courage I'd be all over the back, sack and crack.

When I say "I'd be all over the sack, sack and crack". I mean, I'd like to experience the waxing technique, not like "I'd be all over the back, sack and crack" in a gay way.

When doing a charity ride a few years ago, I was offered £1,000 if I had my legs waxed. I could not refuse that. It didn't hurt, was relatively quick and took about six weeks to grow back.
I would gladly deposit some fur for a grand - be it for a charity or for my personal gain.
Who offered the money? Are you sure it wasn't a fetish porn director?
Waxing is really effective but a bit of a pain (and painful) - effect lasts for a good few weeks though, and I suspect that it gets easier the more you do it, as you'll be yanking out newer, finer hairs rather than great big gnarled old ones. I did it for an ironman - I'd recommend it for a big, one-off event, not sure I could be bothered doing it every few weeks. The best reason I can think of for doing it has to be that it feels really nice, especially on long, warm summer rides... My wife thought it was a bit odd, but I think she liked it really.
edscoble - if it gave you a 2% aerodynamic advantage it would be well worth doing, so I suspect it's closer to 0.2% (if that).
