I should point out that my legs make Gandhi's look like Chris Hoy's.

but really
legs!!!
just ask a few female friends what they think..................G A YMy girlfriends have liked my legs shaved, my boyfriends have liked them hairy. Not saying my partners have been paragons of sexuality/gender stereotype, but my limited sample suggests 100% shaved=straight hairy=gay

I'm not sure i like all of the comments saying my legs look feminine, i may have to take a new picture fully flexed, or maybe not

The hardest part of the legs is the back of the knee. The hardest part of "etc" is 20% off :-)

i can't be arsed to shave my face let alone my legs!

DFP, I hoped you will paste it without a prompt :-)
By the way, back of the knee, ankles - both pain in the arse. It will grow back after a couple of days and bite you back with vengeance.
Any experience with waxing? Does the effect last longer? Shaving seems like a vicious circle. You do this once and then you'd have to do this every day if you don't want prickly or ingrowing hair etc.

Nair might be an option.

Good, good...

Ha!
Surprised no-ones mentioned Veet or Immac yet!
I'm not specifically anti but 1-don't even try to kid myself it'll make me faster, 2: don't give a fuck who is perving (or dry retching because of) my pins 3: I'm about as likely to get a 'regular massages' as Mugabe is prizes for racial equality and economic management.
But yes, the real question is-where do you stop? Brings to mind girls I saw in Cuba that clearly only shaved to a certain altitude shall we say depending on the length of the skirt... Don't think that'll be one for London fashion week.

It does help with aerodynamics, but just not enough to matter for the average cyclist.
something like 0.2% or 2% (not sure which) difference in performance, far too small to even considerate it when going to the lavatory does the job.

Are you suggesting laxative in your opponent's coffee?

Oh no that'd give them the advantage of losing weight quickly.

Waste of time for training / riding at most of our levels.
Would want a resident physio to confirm, but those riders getting massaged daily (e.g. Pro's after stage races) help those doing the massage as it's easier to massage smooth skin.
Only time I've shaved has been for lab tests - where the tape used to stick on the monitor pads/retroreflective balls to skin will rip any hair out on removal.
Itches like fook when it starts to grow back too.
Shaving the legs does in fact promote an easier, cleaner and hygienic massage, without causing irritation to the hair follicles (which believe me can be nasty - i've seen some pretty awful "pustules" in my time oo-er). However, massaging recently shaved legs can also cause irritation due to the slight inflammation of the hair follicles post shaving.
If shaving or waxing - allow 24hrs until massage, and ask your therapist what products they use. If you can sample an area of skin before you take up a massage, you'll save yourself a whole world of trouble.

When doing a charity ride a few years ago, I was offered £1,000 if I had my legs waxed. I could not refuse that. It didn't hurt, was relatively quick and took about six weeks to grow back.
I know some cyclists who swear by waxing. Certainly a lot better in the growing back department than shaving. New hairs grow through rather than stubble poking out. Also, apparently, after a few sessions your hair growth lessens and the hairs are finer.
Downside is the cost.

I wondered about waxing as well. At least it won't grow back and be sore, I think when I ride to Paris this year I'll have to give it a go.
Very feminine legs you have there, who wants to see my wooly pins?
