  • Southall, the festering sperm on the shit cupcake that is Uxbridge Road after a nice ride in the Chilterns.

Generally though, not bad out there today, bit windy but I even had my gloves off for a while to get some sun! Yes, Sun!

Had intermittent sun on my morning ride on Sunday. Every time it hit it was like being licked by a nymph. Mmmm, sun nymphs....

  • I wouldn't go that far but I do come from 'biggest group orgie scene ever'

  • Mmm - blinding, carcinogenic sun nymphs.

  • Everything causes cancer. I'd rather die warm.

  • I suddenly don't believe your claim to have Scottish blood.

  • He may have stolen it?

  • Fat convict Kiwi scum.

Can I interest you in some homeopathy remedies?

  • Fat convict Kiwi scum.

    There were no Kiwi convicts.

  • I saw what you wrote you sexy god amongst cyclists but I would never hold it against you... unless it was dark... or you wanted me to. :-*

  • i rode the prologue route of the famous Tour de Banbury on Saturday. put a time down.

then famous TNRCs famous Kent 2 route out of Otford. +1s to the previous comments about Star Hill - even had the wind pushing me up the mid section. always preferred Bayleys Hill though - I just like the final section in to the trees with the road barrier on the right. can't recall if i had ever done this route by daylight before, but it is a beauty. (cheers again Sam)

  • I did a 109 mile ride on friday from where i live in Southsea to Bristol to stay with some friends. Was a pretty hard ride but some of the nicest weather we have had this year and i even found a waterfall.

*quite a small picture, The waterfall was much bigger than this in real life ;-)

  • What's the pivot thing for? Mini crane for moving things onto barges?

  • Looks like it could be that. Dont think it in use any more though. Pic was taken from the river avon toll bridge :-)

  • Not the weekend I know, but I have the week off so technically it still is for me. Got excited by the sunny forecast for today so went down to Dorking to do some climbing - 65 miles in all.

Was an absolute beauty of a day, the wind was pretty nasty at times though. Went up Barhatch lane for the first time in ages, forgot how brutal it is - makes Whitedown feel like a molehill.

Although Surrey is ace for riding, getting down there is a right ballache. Trains seem to take forever, and Southern seem to have a policy of making their trains as cold and manky as possible.

  • ^ Nice looking route! I fancy a go on that...
    Chapeau.

  • Benj, steal away. If you want the garmin connect link let me know.

It is quite impressive to look at on the profile map and a really nice route to ride I must admit. As you've porbably worked out, it's two loops, both start going up Coldharbour Lane and end on Box Hill, but have different middles, the first loop did Barhatch and a few other climbs that I don't know the names of, and the second did Leith Hill and Whitedown. You're never far from Dorking which is good if you decide to bail for any reason.

There is one absolutely terrifying descent though, I'd try to re-route it if I were you. It's called Tanhurst road I think, coming off the the top of Leith Hill. Really steep, twisty and narrow, pot holes and loose surface everywhere. I was shitting it on the way down, are some real tube flattening / wheel buckling sections around.

  • It's Tanhurst Lane. I imagine, like many roads around there, that the surface has suffered a lot in the weather we've had over the past 6 months.

  • A friend of mine took me round the Cudham time trial route for the first time this weekend.
Quite fun, except the hill at the end.

Yeah, I did that descent when we went to watch the ToB last year and it was a delightful combination of steep, narrow, wet, gravelly, muddy and potholed. At least it was short.

  • A lot of walking, bizarre snow. Great day out.

  • People's Grand Tour test event.. I'm sitting in 2nd place (Aussie favourite) after the weekend.

  • @Andy W, I'm almost tempted to get an MTB after seeing those pics. Superb.
