  • how much tweed we looking at? looks fucking hot tomorrow?

  • That's caught me out a bit really. I was expecting the temperatures to be a bit lower than this.

To be fair, I'm not planning on a jacket at this point. It'll be cooler on the top of the Peaks but warm getting up there.

I'll probably wear a shirt with a waistcoat and a tie and have my flat cap at hand for photo's.

  • Oh FFS!

I really wanted to do it, but I thought it's next weekend for some reason. I've had no broadband for the last few days (fucking BT - still 0.9 MBps instead of "up to 20")

  • shirt and tie + tights for me then i guess - hope it's not too hot!

  • For tomorrow at the station, I'll have my LFGSS cap on and be with a blue road bike with a Canadian flag and a Welsh dragon on the top tube. Should be easy to spot.

  • I'm donning the argyle socks and plus fours, shirt, waistcoat, cravat, tweed cycling cap.

    Pip pip!

  • Oh FFS!

    Oh Kris.

  • i found a bizarre fix to our bt problems btw... pm'd you

  • Just thought - what's the plan to get home?

Manchester station or Stockport to Sheffield?

  • not a clue! trains to somewhere -can figure it out on my phone on the day i guess?

just getting my stuff together now - am a little sad about exactly how hot tweed is as clothing - i might be more retro! quick question...
    pimms or red wine?

  • Are you bringing the Pimms with you, or drinking it tonight?

I'm relying on local taverns for my alcoholic refreshment, but I'm on the red tonight.

Keep the clobber fairly light, and don some token tweed - I overdressed on the London-Brighton-London and paid for it massively. That's why I'm fitting my Carradice - so I can shed layers if needed!

  • i have a wine bottle holster on the bike so it seems a shame not to use it - i may bring it empty and get a bottle of plonk after wynnats pass rather than lugging it up there

am going with tweedy trousers rolled up and a normal jersey (tights underneath) and a tweedy hat - am quite excited to be honest - my first ride out on this bike - a drunken baptism of fire seems appropriate

  • What a cracker! You lucky sod, Tom. Can't wait to see it in the flesh.

Bring a bidon, so you've got refreshments for the climb, and we'll pop into a village store for a bottle of vino collapso! You can put your empty bidon in my saddle bag.

    I'm well game too!
    Roll on tomorrow!

  • that's last years bike - this years is even shinier :) have improvised a temporary bottle that i can use till we find an offy -

i get into leeds at 9.08 tomorrow i'll be in the main bit near the gets from that time - johnny crash from leeds is going to meet us there too apparently - so does that make 4 of us with a possible 5 half way round?

  • Good work, Tom! What a line up:

    Tilover.
    Johnny Crash.
    The Seldom Killer.
    General Lucifer.
    Manc Ronnie.

We sound like East End Villains.

  • :) bedsytime for me - see you int morn

  • Just got up and already the sun is shining.

Current forecast from the Met Office suggest a peak of 20oC at urban level so hopefully cooler on the tops. Tail wind with gusts to 20mph so be ready to hold on to your hats.

Speaking of which, I can't find my tweed cap. Looks like I'll have to ride all the way up the hill to check the old flat on the way in to town. Good style is worth such endeavours.

    See you shortly.

  • on the train now!

  • Have fun.

  • we made it! lots of fun... pics later

  • I'm knackered!

Feels like I've done more than 58 miles.

Some monster climbing put a sting in the tail though...

Cheers for a great ride, Andrew!

A great ride with a top bunch of lads.

  • yay... was a cracker am at home with cold beer watching shit tv in my pants :)

  • Beer, wine, curry, Mighty Boosh on DVD.

    Well deserved.

If I had a pass I'd do it again tomorrow!
