  • Thanks Kris.

    I love you to.

  • Thanks everyone for a great day, just what I needed. A really sociable ride in great company.

I'm definitely going sort something out for next year, hopefully the Peak District Park Authority will have the Bakewell to Buxton Rail Route open by next summer, that'll make a good ride. If not, maybe I'll make it my mission to bring tweed rides to all of the national parks.

I'll try and get a few pictures up this evening to show you in all of your finery.

  • And as this ride was done under the auspices of Tweed, it seems only right to dish out a few awards. The Tweed Excursion is run on a rather limited budget, so awards are limited to honourable mentions.

Most stylish attire: General Lucifer, whose impeccable taste did not wane in the last burst of summer.
Most sterling performance on a classic hill climb: tilover, who faced down Winnats Pass on a double chainring and still managed to reach the top looking fresh.
Downright good facial hair: Johnny Crash.
Best beer of the day: Robinsons, served a scant 100 metres from the brewery.

A cautionary note to any prospective Winnats Pass riders, a pint of tea at the Woodbine Cafe in Hope may seem like a good idea, but there were reports of a non-condiucive sloshing feeling on the slopes.

  • The scones and Eccles cake were first rate for climbing, though.

    Take a prize yourself, Andrew.

    Demon descender par excellence!

  • i am definitely buying a bigger cassette and a smaller chainring that 46t on the front!

top route andrew - looking forward to the next one

    :)

  • The climb of Winnat's Pass in the distance.

  • Vital sustenance taken on board before the climb!

  • The troops before the assault.

  • Tilover makes climbing a 20% gradient look easy on a 46t chainring! Slick bastard!

  • The beast, defeated.

  • Dodgy quality due to dodgy phone, but you get the idea...

    yay!

  • Just took the suit trousers and waistcoat into the dry cleaners this morning.

Couldn't help but imagine where else I could be wearing them.

    This tweed malarky is addictive.

    Damn you Thanks teddy.

  • I entered the inaugral one of these earlier this year, but didn't make it on the day

Perhaps a bit hilly for full tweed, but a bit of merino, toeclips and lugged steel should fit the bill

  • I really fancy that, but I can't get a pass for Easter Sunday - my kids would divorce me.
