If I knew there were a beginners day out at Newt, I wouldn't have stayed in bed... shame.

What happened at hells bells? Sounds nasty.
A french dude got hit on the eye and his eye socket was damaged and nearly went blind. More detail on the hells belles thread.

So there was a beginners day out without me!!! Actually I couldn't get out of bed coz I was coming down with a cold. :-(
By the way, I told Pickled Onion they should play with Fish and Chippies when they come to London next time. That'd be fun!!!

As Wicksie says, people should try to discourage massive swings, but I know I was / am guilty of it when I am in the middle of a game, and amped up, it just happens. I think a face cage is a good idea.
+1
Certainly if you are going to play league polo, or at tournaments, you really should be wearing a helmet & face cage, people will get more competitive, but personally I wear mine all the time.

Also, there are mid paced games at Newington tonight, if anyone wants to come.

I'm selling a face cage helmet.
Can bring Tuesday if anyone wants to try. -
• #3335
^ I doubt it'd fit my giant head, but could I try just in case my head's gone a size down since I last checked?
-
• #3336
Sure.
Nessa has first refusal but is in the same predicament. -
• #3337
No worries, it's all part of the process.... Maybe we should try play with them anyway, could get a sneak advantage for playing lower to the ground.. I'll keep an eye out for poles, and see you tuesday. PEACE YO.
edit: (Kuba this was reply to you btw, sorry still forum troubles)

I'll try to make it tomorrow night & have a look at what this Polo thing is all about. If it looks fun then I might be interested in buying a polo bike...

Thanks guys. Feeling better with my cut off ski poles. Will try to finish the mallets for tomorrow. Can anyone tell me the size of your pipe bits? 5" seem small, 8 quite long...? But I found everything in the forums...

^120mm is the common length

Standard size is about 120-130mm, so about 5", but it's really up to you, people play with anything from 80mm to 180mm (maximum in the rules)
The longer the head, the easier it is to block/accept passes, but it also adds more weight, making it harder to use.

Point of clarity:
The second beginners super-team in the league is 'The Pickled Onion'. The definite article is what makes it such a bad name. Otherwise it's merely irrelevant.

I still think you guys should play with Fish and Chippies.

Maybe if we weren't crap! One day...

Hey John, I'm still owed a head by LHBPA; have they arrived yet? Can I collect from somewhere?
-
• #3347
Yep, polo tonight?
orange/blue/black?
-
• #3348
Or I can bring it tomorrow if that helps?
-
• #3349
Can't do tonight sorry, tomorrow would be great though!
umm... orange please!
-
• #3350
I'll collect it tonight then John.

But even just a normal helmet is worth putting on your head. Any other injuries tend to heal up alright, a brain injury is different and a lot more serious...
