Haven't quite worked out my ticket strategy yet. Is the selection process for oversubscribed events completely random or will the computer give preference for those events to those who have only included those sessions in their request applications? ie. If I filled out applications for all track events would I end up with tickets for the less subscribed events, whereas if I only filled out applications for three events that involved finals, would I be more likely to get those? As someone who regularly tries to buy tickets for football, I am inclined to think that there may be a lot of disappoint.

Sorry if this has been answered or is otherwise obvious. If I put down a load of things that I'm interested in (really I just want to see something) - lets say that I have ten applications that end up succesful - one of these I really want to see, the others I'm not bothered about put just put down to maximise chances.
I understand I'll get charged for all ten, so need to have loads of cash in my account to cover it. Will I definitely be able to get a refund for the nine that I don't want to go to, or will I be stuck with the ones I've succesfully applied / paid for, or be at the mercy of some ticket exchange (so not a guaranteed refund if no one wants to buy them)?

You will need to sell the tickets on, on the official site. aslong as they are not really obscure events no-one wants then you should be fine. But you cant get a refund i dont think

ok - thanks. That's a completely ridiculous way to allocate them.

i agree, lets hope it doesn't become a fiasco, mind you the countdown clock was a great start lol..

You can see it becoming one though can't you... Ticket exchange opens two weeks before the main event, you can only buy via Visa, no time to get one etc... :)
Why wouldn't they send you an email saying "you can buy any of these ten tickets, which ones do you want", then reoffer the rest. Why put all the risk onto the customer?
(edit, I guess tracking which tickets they've shifted is way simpler this way)

The reason they did it this way is to stop a mad rush when ticketing opens.
The punters are making this complicated by applying for more tickets than they want.
It's simple really - just apply for the tickets you want.

Think that's the way.
Especially seeing as there's going to be a second chance when the re-sale thing opens in six months time.

Just committed to £850 worth of ticketing.
Fingers crossed I get something decent.

must remember to keep £250 in my account between 10may and sometime in June
Fingers crossed I get something decent. Was worried about velodrome tickets so had to delete the women's beach volley ball quarter finals in the end, much to my disappointment.
I still think the whole thing is a farce

Why all the moaning about ticket prices? the velodrome costs a bomb and needs to be paid for.. and they know they can fill it over and over again.
I thought they are all alright, got athletics, Mountain biking, Track and Gymnastics.. wont be back here in my lifetime. The big con is how Visa "proud sponsors" are the also the only card you can use to purchase Olympic tickets..
Massive cunts.
Bullshit. Those prices will mean loads will not go.

Now I wanna get the worlds most powerful projector and sign something about Pepsi being the shizzle from outside of 'their zone' where they can't do a sodding thing.

I saw the hospitality rates the other day... £4.5k per ticket, and the cycling events are all sold out of hospitality tickets already.
Wow.
Now sure, those tickets include a 3-course meal, but you can see why they're limiting public tickets... the money they're getting from hospitality is paying for nearly everything. Public ticketing is probably just enough to keep the masses from revolting (considering how much we've actually bank-rolled it through taxation).

Put in for BMXing and something else, can't remember what. I'd also like to see the footy at Wembley but there's no fixture list as of yet and I don't want to end up watching Peru vs Bongo Bongo Land (copyright The Daily Mail comments section).
