  • So what about the heinous Lurpakers? Are you going to give up your plastic-container-hybrid-vegetable-fat-bullshit?

    it's hardly soylent greeen.

  • Where's your proof?

  • Stall at Borough Market sells Echire butter straight off the block, about 90p for 100g.

Here's an article from NYT about how awesome it is... sensuous slow melt indeed.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2001/01/17/dining/butter-with-a-pedigree-ah-the-french.html

  • ^sensuous slow melt?
    ffs.

    ^^
charlton heston hasn't appeared on telly saying "lurpark is soylent green is people".
    yet.

  • it lasts for ages - we go through it fairly quickly ( about 1 pack per week/10days), but i'd say you'd get 2 weeks easily if somewhere coolish.

ours is just in the kitchen, normal room temp, and we've not had any trouble with manky butter.

  • When it comes to butter, creme, cheese and chocolate, nothing, and I repeat, NOTHING tastes as good as the Swiss stuff.

The best memories that I have of my childhood were related to having my grand-maman feeding me simple stuff ... tasted so good, I've never managed to find anything like it anywhere else.
Ok, maybe the fact that everyone around me spoke french and I didn't get a word until I was a bit older contributed to the fact that food was the central topic, but hey!

Sweet saffron bread, called http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuchaule. Butter on to, and then a good glob of something the call mustard, but what is really more like a spiced sweet marmalade: Moutarde de BĂ©nichon.
Or potatoes, butter and Gruyere or Vacherin de Fribourg.
    Les pains d'anis. Les http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bricelet.

Wish you could get that stuff here.

  • Whatever you do, don't bother with Italian Butter.

    It's shite.

  • Right, tomorrow looks a bit mixed weather wise.
Also I managed to fall up some stairs while being drunk and now have a bloody tennis ball size bruise above my knee and trouble to straighten the leg. One reason that I never drink much is stuff like this, really.

With regrets, I think I am out.

  • Ooof. I'm in for something like barhatch if someone else can gps/lead it - I have no maps or technology.

  • You can borrow mine if you fancy?

  • Thanks for the offer pascalo - weather is weathery as feared. I'll get a bit more organised with maps for next weekend if anyone's up for a gapfiller. SSTC gapfiller long sleeves edition.

  • Hope by then my knees are good.

  • So, my bike's only fucking ready, which means I can get SSTCing asap.

It's ready 3 weeks (and 1 payday) before I was expecting, so I need to find some serious cash down the back of the sofa before I can collect it...but I HAVE A BIKE AGAIN...whoop whoop.

Looking forward to riding with you guys soon

  • You need to post this in about 30 different threads, Jenny. :P

    Good news though! :-)

  • ^ haha - nearly started a whole thread of my own in celebration.

There'll be pics on the Rolla forum when I have it in my grubby little hands...

  • start a thread. we'll post on it. if you want, we can go on a jenny's got a new bike ride.

  • ^ What is this shit??! I come back and all of a sudden it's a "jenny's got a new bike" ride?? It's the Lurpak Spreadable ride. Fuckers!

  • P.s. Jenny, I am happy for you. Really. But this ride is about butter. Not bikes. Make no mistake.

  • If it's about butter, WTF has Lurpak Spreadable got to do with it?

  • Whatevz! It's about Lurpak Spreadable in any case.

  • You'll see sense, once your concussion's worn off.

  • I'm reading about this Echire butter at Borough Market. This is not normal behaviour for me. I must still be concussed.

  • Just get some liquid silk and be done with it
