Btw nice shots Chak, like all three but the first one the most, colour / shapes wise.
What camera / lens? -

I went up the shard, views were strangely underwhelming after having seen Jason Hawkes photos. The place and the people ended up being much more interesting:
Yep, that's a great view.

Depends if Ms. B&D catches him.
Mrs spotter?
Indeed.

What camera / lens?The usual. D700 & 35mm.
Your're pretty much spot on. I actually really hate the first one. Symmetrically screwed up and it gets on my nerves. I didn't have enough time before grumpy lunged forward to snatch someone's cab. -

Mirrored glasses have saved my cods on numerous occasions.

so, my Ricoh GRD3 has decided it doesn't want to work any more. I paid to have it sorted when the lens assembly went a year or so ago for about 150 euros but i don't think i can bring myself to do it again. Had to do the same thing with my GRD2 as well so thinking I need to try something else.
Can anyone recommend a proper compact camera, as in it will fit in my trouser pocket, that would make a good every day carry? Had a quick scope on line and the sony rx100 or cannon s120 seem to be liked. I really like the ricoh but they seem a bit flakey and i've had the same fault 3 times on 2 models so I think i need a change. Any advice would be appreciated.
Also, anyone done the lightroom course at Photofusion? Thinking I really need to get my head around the processing as my stance on never retouching anything obviously stems from my lack of skills, though I can do most of the basics in potatoeshop.
cheers,

I was really happy with the RX100 (need to repair it due to water damage, my own fault), the larger sensor make a nice difference.
Another option is the Panasonic Lumix GM1, not tried it but some on here have one and wax lyrical about it's compact body (slightly bigger and thicker than the GRD) but with the benefit of interchangeable lenses and larger sensor.
It cost a fair bit more, but may be a worthy upgrade from the compact Ricoh, especially with low light.

Thanks for that, i'll check out that lumix as well. Will depend how small it is with the lens on.

I looked at the GM1 too, ended up with the EPL2 from Olympus coupled with their 17mm 1.8. Performance in the dark and speed of focus with this combo is light years ahead of my GXR, but I miss that Ricoh richness.

I'm a bit wary of buying something larger for more functionality as I know it just means I'll leave it at home a lot more which defeats the point.
I'd also rather save some cash and upgrade my 10 year old dslr at some point.
Oh decisions...

In my experience, any camera with a significantly sticky-out lens will not make its way into a trouser or jersey pocket very often. LX5 is my current squeeze, and even that feels a little too thick sometimes. I mostly end up wearing it slung over a shoulder or across my body on a ride.
The GM1 looks ace, but even the shallowest pancake lenses make the whole camera quite a bit bigger than anything like the RX100. -

Have you seen the new Samsung K Zoom? Looks awesome. Fuck android though. Great design.

After something pretty similar too. A tough, small, cheap camera for riding. Currently have a LX3 which is great but a bit big for jersey pockets as well as having a battery drain issue.

I know the feeling, that why I suggest the GM1, it's amazingly small still next to the Sony RX100.

That'll only work with pancake lens, and even then not as good. Stick a longer lens on that and you'll get a very bulky shape
-
• #6673
But you still need to get a lens on that. I'd be happy with a pancake prime but don't want something super wide. It would probably be as deep as the body again by which time it doesn't fit in my jeans.
Ta for the pic though. I'm leaning toward the rx100 from the reviews and what you've said. Probably the mark 1 as it's quite a bit cheaper.

I don't suppose anyone has a nifty fifty going spare? Has anyone upgraded from the f1.8 to the f1.4 model and fancies selling me their f1.8?
Mine had an altercation with the floor...

I like rain. Makes people visibly grumpy. Nobody really knows what to do when it rains. Rain is gooooood.
