  • how much for the x100? i have no idea if i can afford to upgrade

  • I'm considering a new camera - could spring for £3-400 for something amazing and a decent upgrade from my Leica DLux 3 and have started researching.

The Fuji X20 looks pretty ideal for what I want - or I could spend a bit less and get a Lumix LX7 or follow the herds and get a RX100.

The question is should I buy from here: http://www.digitalrev.com/product/fujifilm-x20/MTAwMjMwMQ_A_A

or pay an £80 -£100 premium to buy from a local camera shop?

Is it just a function of whether I want to support small UK businesses or gamble on how reliable the camera will be?

Does anyone have experience of Digital Rev (would make my decision much easier if they were unreliable shysters)?

  • ^^ no idea rogan; toying with the idea ..

  • Digital Rev is absolutely fine to buy from. What do you want from the camera? X20 is nice but I feel the RX100 lens and sensor is better in theory but then again optical viewfinder is a huge plus.

  • Yeah they are fine but it's still grey market isn't it? Don't know how Fuji handle it but I know Nikon are pretty strict on it.

  • actually amey, dont tell me.

    I definitely cant afford it

    Argh - that's not helping!

The viewfinder and the retro look and feel of the X20 are luring me - I also feel the RX100 is a bit 'Swotty' - of course it's better but it's just not as cool.

And to completely confuse things there's this: http://www.jessops.com/online.store/categories/products/fujifilm/x-a1-compact-system-camera-in-black-16-50mm-lens-89483/show.html

  • I was abt to say why not RX100 with external electronic viewfinder .. then I saw its price ..

XA looks like a fine choice if you can live with its size

  • How much did you say you were looking for for your X100 again??

  • I need to see what extras have I got with it .. around £350?

  • PMing you

  • I'm looking to buy a Panasonic GX1 or GF1 in the next week or two, is there a big difference in performance? Also I know this is the wrong section but I'm looking at getting a cheap 35mm manual film camera - any recommendations?

Pentax K1000. Bulletproof, cheap lenses and a pleasure to use.

Some ISO improvement and other updates. Both are great cameras. Make sure you get the 20mm F1.7 lens. Thing is sharp as a knife wide open.

  • Also interested in the x100

  • Seems like the X100 is a hot potato. I fucking love mine and will never sell it.

Re DigitalRev, I bought my 6D from them last year, camera arrived in two days.

Had a K1000 back in College many moons ago. Loved it.

Just looked up a few! Flipping expensive. I remember getting mine for £10 including lens.

  • ...kboy, I'm pretty sure you had a GX1 a while back - I'd love to know what you thought of it as I'm after a m4/3 with good manual controls to learn with.

  • Great little camera, but I found that it struggled too much in low light. If you want to get back in to photography for cheap though it's a cracker. Small enough to carry anywhere, and as long as there's light, you can't blame the camera if you take bad shots.

I ended up with an x-e1 that I love, but on a budget, the gx1 is a great option, especially with the famous pancake 20mm

  • Would be interesting to learn how the GM1 flare to the GX1,
