Really nice light in both. Did you go to Brighton for the weekend?

Went there for Christmas, I'm just such a nerd I started messing with photos and forum almost as soon as I got home. The light was quite nice in both but I did (and often do) tint it and warm it up in Lightroom.

Like the second one.
Have people been bad this year?
Definately expected some posts along the lines of "Nikon D610 for christmas, awesowe" etc. -

^ its not about the camera FFS!

Love that Camera shot. Spy vs spy.
Anyone here use a D700? Considering buying one but really confused as to why it depreciates so little considering the general consensus is, new shit comes out, older shit depreciates. Even a D800 can be had for around £1500. D700 still hangs around the grand mark for a low actuation one.

dont worry bout actuations too much. 100,000 is the rating, but the reality is even a lower spec nikon can go far far beyond that before anything noticable happens.

I think the D700 has held up quite well because its a bit more rugged compared to the D800 and plenty of pros are still using them and its a good resolution for a lot of people etc.

Oh I'm not particularly fussed about that. The D200 I'm using is on around 220k. As a heavy user, I try to get something with a low mileage to extend life. I'm just stumped over why it depreciates so little.

That's the thing. The D800 has the same magnesium construction as the 700. Ignoring the technical aspects, which I'm not fussed about except AF speed and ISO capabilities. I don't get why the 700 (2008 introduced) is still near enough a grand, and the 800 (2012) is around 1500.
The only reason I want the D700 is ergonomics. It fits my hand like the D200 does and the button placement I find perfect. I'd change to Canon as I don't have allegiances to any one company, but I despise how Canon's handle and their stupid menu's.
Anyone use any other make that is rugged and speedy as Nikon?D200, around 220,000 actuations and still going strong. I love how accurate you can work with this camera at speed. Iso1600, 35mm.

Pentax make some very rugged stuff but its all crop. D700 is probably the best option, hence why it still costs so much.

Haha, I did take a look at those recently - having only seen them on websites so far - because I sort-of "like" Pentax.
When I saw them in the flesh for the first time I was very amused (disappointed as well, but primarily amused) -
those bodies are so small - it's like a "pro" all-weather camera for kids!

A D3 is basically just a high fps D700 though. Same af and everything else.
Really nice light on that shot ^
