  • Hopefully I'll be trading in my G9 in for a G15 soon, i'm looking forwards to having separate wheels for f-stop and exposure and f1.8 in a compact

  • Ordered a Fuji XF1 last night from the Fuji refurb store - just over £160 with a discount code.

Will report on it's performance once I get it.

  • Ed, don't sell the sigma! No harm in having one of those knocking about.

  • They're amazing camera and the detail are great, let me upload a shot I took a while ago.

  • I adjusted the colour to mimick my favourite films: Kodak Portra VC.

While the Sigma DP2 is an excellent camera, the screen and lack of viewfinder make it difficult to see if the shot turn out fine, after being used to the Fujiflm X100, it's a massive set-back despite having the better sensor.

Also it's RAW files only work the best on their own RAW application.

Having said that, 40mm FoV is quite possibly my favourite FoV for everything from portraiture to landscape.

  • that top one is bloody brilliant

  • Is it as sluggish as they say though ed? You hear horror stories of files taking 20 seconds to write to the card.

    (great photos btw)

  • Agreed. Good sense of scale with the little fella in the foreground.

If you're trying to capture action shot, then yes that'll happen, but a 96mbps memory card will help speed up the write time significantly.

It's strictly a pro compact for portraiture and landscape generally, oh and it can't handle long exposure shot (max 15 second) whether my Fujifilm do it brilliantly (note to self, buy mechanical bulb shutter cable).

But it's sensor and lens kept bringing me back to the Sigm despite it's limitation.

  • The out of camera jpegs are, like the Fuji x100, perfect. No need to shoot raw with the sigma! Keep it.

  • ed if you do sell your x100 drop me a pm with how much your looking for, im still tempted to swap up from the x10

  • The RAW allow me to adjust the shadow and highlight more, even when the highlight at max, it's not as drastic as the Fuji RAW.

I'll have to force myself on the Sigma more.

Might sell X100 for £250, gotta check the second hand market first for the price (it's quite worn looking but functioning perfectly well).

    Ditto for the Sigma DP2 - £200.

  • would deffo be in at that sorta price, physical condition doesn't bother me!

  • Just got back from the time trail today
First keeper i came across. Quick tinker in LR with a VSCO preset

    Sounds like an great deal

  • Dan531c, that's great - must have been difficult tracking him. Vsco is nice and subtle, handy for disguising sensor noise too...

  • Also careful with the highlights/ shadows. Too much and it looks HDR, which is always shit.

    You're not wrong...

  • More photos from the Pyrenees;

The descent was hard work, all 7 hours of it through the rocky landscape.

  • Bloody hell. What a schlep. It looks stunning though.

  • on bike or feets?

  • On foot, which the next day after the walk I cycled and it was so much more comfortable.

It's a complete wasteland up around 10,000 feet, no vegetation at all let alone insect and animal to be seen.

Think I prefer to sell the X100 and Sigma to get a body with two lens instead, I like the Fuji a lots.

Will decided later on the week.

  • I hate walking on that kind of terrain, rocks/boulders that move around and twist your ankles. Feels so great to be on a flattish surface after that.

  • X-E1 hands down. And the 27mm 2.8 pancake and the 14mm 2.8!

Exactly my sentiment after going back on the (hire) bike and did a nice 90km ride around Luchon.

I have done a quick check on the body size of the X-E1, it's actually almost identical to the X100 with the pancake lens, my only (ineptly) nag is not having the nice distinctive rangefinder design of the X100 but I'll live with it.

  • You're not wrong...

    Nice.
