Selling a Panasonic Lumix GH2 here:

A while ago I was debating between the Canon 5d mark 2 and mark 3, and have decided that the mark 3 is not really worth the extra £1k, and came so close to getting the mark 2. Now circumstances have changed, I need to buy some extra equipment for my work hence I need to reconsider how much I can realistically put towards the digital camera. Currently looking at the 7D, since it's not a full sensor, I could even use my EF-S lenses until more money have grown from my money tree (it'd be nice if it were like this). What are people thoughts on the 7D? Despite constant comparison many have drawn between the mark 2 and 7D, I know the 2 target very different customers.
It might be worth mentioning that I still do my more serious work on my beloved and trusted hassleblad, and having factor that in, I don't know if the 5D would actually be put to good use in my hands...
Right enough mumbling, any thoughts appreciated.

Sounds like you've answered your own question there.

I kind of have, haven't I? Maybe I should just go for a 600D start kit with 5 lenses for, I think just under £800, can't remember where I saw it this morning.
Seriously, I just wanted to make sure I am not blinded by my own thinking...

And a dark cloud has been hanging over my head - am I going to regret not buying a full sensor camera?

I've been FF and back again. It ain't the holy grail pixel peepers make it out to be. A few years ago the APS-C / FF divide was probably bigger (I remember trying a D300 when I had my D3 and being pretty underwhelmed) but I'd say I get as nice images out of my APS-C X100 as I do out of my (before I sold it) and my girlfrends 5Ds.
Is your Hassy film or digi?

Ha, if I had a digital hassleblad, I would probably just go for a pocket size digital. I only have a film one and funny enough, getting a digital back for it is more expensive than getting a digital hassleblad... Madness!!

A small sequence of images I took a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure if they have any merit but I like one or two of them. This is one of our camp cooks and general handymen repairing my parang, which a few days later I used to slice a 6-stitch gash in my thumb... whoops.

I have the 7D and 3 lenses. It is the best camera I've ever owned. The build and Image quality is truly amazing. That said, I'm seriously thinking about selling it and getting the Fujifilm X-Pro 1 as the Canon is just so heavy/bulky, especially when dragging the other lenses around too.
I had a play with the X-Pro 1 the other day and it does seem fantastic.
So I'm a little torn. -

Anyone want to trade their compact for a D40X(boxed)+kit lens+SB600? Looking for something like a Ricoh GRD, Fuji X10, Nikon Coolpix P310, Canon G.
Thanks.

Sadly, my Sigma DP1 is for sells. Boxed with all manuals, cd, case and stuff what comes with it when new. Good condition, few marks on the corners but works 100%. Will get pics later/if there is interest. £160 plus a few quid post.

I recently started shooting in RAW. Capture One won't recognise the RAW files and the Canon software is wank. Suggestions?

What are peoples thoughts on buying a second hand slr? I'm a little wary but the savings are good and mean I could pretty much step up a level in camera.
Specifically thinking about a D700 or possibly a 5D mark ii, thought the 5D means switching to Canon and losing compatibility with my film stuff

Photo Mechanic + Lightroom should see you fine.

Nowt wrong with second hand camera, especially old pro bodies as they last longer. Just be wary of how much use they'd had, but you can tell this by shutter accusations.
Mind you I'd wait to see how much the new Nikon D600 will cost.

Cheers. Hadn't even heard of the D600, much research to be done

The focus is on their guilt or innocence.

I'm expecting to get the Nikon D7000 in a couple of days and wondering whether or not to try and ask the store to swap the kit lens (18-105) for either the 35mm or 50mm F1.8.
I already have the older 18-70 lens that came as kit on the D70 (sorry can't confirm exact model it's packed in ready to fly) and I'm also expecting to buy the sigma 70-200 F2.8 (105-300 if you account for crop factor).
Going with the kit lens is quite appealing as it would mean that I have full coverage from 18-300 with just 2 lenses which isn't bad seeing as most of my attempts at photography take place in remote areas where weight/space is an issue. I would also be able to pass my existing 18-70 along to my dad when I give him my D70.
However, I'm just wondering if I'm likely to have more fun with one of the prime lenses (probably the 35mm), especially in lower light conditions such as under the forest canopy.
Thoughts appreciated... I'm flying back to the UK tomorrow and hoping to fully upgrade camera kit (and pass stuff on to the old man) within a couple of days so I can get used to it before heading off again in 2 weeks.

I've bought a Nikon D300 and D700 on eBay, and loads of lenses over the years. D300 was boxed and like new with under 10k actuations, bundled with MB-D10 grip and 28-105mm lens, and I got the lot for a good deal less than the body price was at the time. D700 was well-used by a pro tog with around 60k shots through it but performs flawlessly to this day; I got it boxed for around £950. So yeah, I'd have no qualms about buying second hand, so long as you trust the seller.
Judging the camera's newness by actuations is a gamble as I'm pretty sure a firmware update resets it. Was certainly the case when I updated my D300 a few years back...
Cheers mate, stuck to using lightroom now - means I can keep everything in one place 5d, DP1 and Film.
