  • Think of selling my Olympus E420 and 25mm pancake and getting a bridge/high end compact - as I hardly ever use it to it's full potential and more inclined now to just point and shoot really. I've been really impressed with shots I've seen from some of the Ixus, and obviously things like the Powershot range

    Anything I should definitely consider?

  • Bloody stupid if you ask me. You'd have to have more money than sense.

Loved the concept, hated the price.

  • Some more pics from my Sigma DP1 - http://28fixed.wordpress.com/

This is quickly becoming my favourite camera.

understandable, I sometime missed my DP1 despite having an X100.

Wonder how much an DP2 goes for on ebay...

  • i was thinking the same, looking for a dp2 thinking it would be a similiar camera but with a better screen and fixed everything else that was wrong with the dp1, but all the newer models seem to be missing the wide angle lens opting for a 42mm equivalent or something.

edit - actually the dp1 merril seems to be the new 28mm one, with an even bigger sensor too. doesnt seem to be out yet though.

  • That's intriguingly nice

  • To the people that recommended the X10 - thankyou, it is a wonderful camera!

I liked that actually, 42mm is perfect, not too wide to create distortion, and still be enough for everyday photography.

Used to shoot a lots with my 40mm pancake lens.

Damnit, I do not need a new camera...

  • 28mm is too wide for my liking, so never considered a dp1... and now I know there's a 42mm one... bah!

  • Even my X100 felt a touch too wide at 35mm.

  • Anyone got any advice with regards to a Canon 550d vs a 20d? I have a 550d but really can't stand it. Noticed 20d's are very cheap now and was considering trading in the 550 for one and some better lenses but worried it's just far too old now. Also looking at the 40d

  • That's fresh.

  • I've been taking photos from this spot on my way to bike polo for a while now. Finally got some I like

  • ^ what am I looking for?

  • Selling a Canon 550d(mint condition, boxed as new) + 50mm f1.8 (mint condition, 3 weeks old, boxed as new) + 28mm f2.8 + battery - £400 plus post

    ... just if anyone's interested

  • ^ what am I looking for?

    Whatever you want cheekyface.

  • Experimented with long exposures last night

  • That top one is lovely but wtf is that on the left? I'd love something like that as my dekstop.

  • It's a fence post. I don't have a tripod. Here's one without that in the shot

  • Do you want a tripod? I have one of those cheap and cheerful Velbon ones I never use that I bought as a backup. Cost me 30, yours for 15.

  • No I'm good but thanks for the offer. If I start doing more night stuff I'll think about getting one

  • Well if you want to borrow it for a night to practice just swing by my office.

  • I now have a GRD III thanks to this forum and, I can confirm, it is the bomb!!

    Absolutely love it.

Got fed up of hauling by DSLR around the place, this is the perfect companion.

Don't get me wrong, I still love my Canon, but the pictures this thing takes considering it is a P+S are really nice. Plus... it shoots RAW.

    Highly recommended.
