  • Ok, so i'm knocking the whole camping shiz on the head, Bear Grylls style. The missus and I are staying at a B&B in Wooten.

If the weather is conducive for a BBQ, then we'll hopefully come and hang at the campsite down the road. Otherwise, the Sloop Inn overlooking Mill pond looks like a nice little pub for a rondayvoo...

you and dan need to man up.

    shakes head

  • Anyone else starting at Yarmouth? Otherwise I'll sprint the first bit and pick up everyone else at wooten.

  • Bloody hell I'm excited!
    (but a bit confused)
Can we get a couple of lists going for

    1) DAY TRIPERS
    damo
    tika
    veevee
    jaygee
    pajamas
    gina
    johnny
    dropout
    wools
    habbi

    2) CAMPERS (sat/sun eve)
    kattiep (+8 or so)
    hamsandwich
    joesmith
    dogsballs
    braker/anna
    middleofnowhere
    arduicus
    pifko

How is that looking for starters?

Is the plan that we leave camp early and meet the day trippers to all head off together?

  • That's the plan. Easier said than done though :)

    Gonna be good!

  • As i understand it, the campers and some of the day-trippers are starting at the Wooten checkpoint, and others at the Bembridge checkpoint.

    Bembridge is 10miles from Wooten.

Sunday is dry according to metcheck, aside from an evening shower or two.

I don't know what any of these things mean.

Yes. So if we leave Wooton in time to meet people at Bembridge, will we be leaving Wooton daytrippers behind, or will they be getting there early enough to leave with us just after 9? (assuming the Bembridge-ers are starting from 10).

I'm aiming to be at the camp site for about 3:30 on Saturday, with Pifko and *M.F in tow. What's the plan for the rest of you campers?

  • nice one tiswas. are you bullying your brother?

  • I'm so excited!!! pees self

  • Do you only get your badge and certificate if you collect a stamp from every checkpoint or do you have to return to your starting checkpoint to "close the loop" before you get your badge?

If the day trippers riding out from Ryde and heading Bembridge first return to Ryde will they bee deemed to have missed the Wooton - Bembridge leg? Will they get their badge?

Getting a badge suddenly seems a very important part of the exercise. This may be more to do with me not getting a very good night's sleep last night, possibly due to insufficient blood alcohol levels.

  • @middleofnowhere – I’m sure that’s right – I remember last year, we registered and picked up a card at the first checkpoint, but not the stamp for that checkpoint.

Daytrippers probably should go to wootton first to do the extra bit at the beginning rather than the end.

  • Too damned right - He's already bailed on one long ride this month.

We must be related... (before andyp gets in there)

  • There are badges? Is this ride free?

@ Matt - you are correct in your assessment of what determines a badge / completion of course. You gots ta ends where ya starts. (as Habbi has suggested)

  • There are badges?

    +1

  • There are badges? Is this ride free?

    From website...

    Free Entry. Any donations welcome.

At completion, celebrate your success. A badge will be available again this year - Blue Island on Yellow sea.

"Available" is nicely non-specific, could mean for sale or could mean given free. I think you'd have to be particularly brazen to walk away with a badge without making a donation tho.

  • @middle of nowhere,
you can have my stamped card from last year if you like, as long as I get cake stops sunday I will be happy!
