  • I checked the weather forecast: heavy rain + 26mph wind....

at the thought of that i'm in as well. mind you i cannot find the £6 tickets on southern's site. i'll keep looking. why oh why are trains such a pain

  • You need to look for the Damotrain, platform 2.5 in Victoria, throw yourself into the wall on the left handside and see what happens.

  • I checked the weather forecast: heavy rain + 26mph wind....

    Yeee-Haaa !
    but i think yer wrong...
    I got some rain... 15 - 18 mph winds.

why oh why are trains such a pain

    Cos' they're not bikes.

    @ damo... decision on what?
    which socks to wear ?

  • clothing is an important decision on such a ride.

  • The BBC weather forecast still says 26mph wind. Is there a more optimistic forecast?

  • booked a ticket but entered the 1st. shit shit shit

  • hahaha!

  • igoogle sez 28 kph nne wind. 30% chance of rain.
    we can do this.

bangs head against desk at people booking trains fail

  • it is all about having clothes in a dry bag.

  • the badge will become a medal of honour.

  • From website...

"Available" is nicely non-specific, could mean for sale or could mean given free. I think you'd have to be particularly brazen to walk away with a badge without making a donation tho.

guys, it would be sweet if everyone could make a little donation at their first check-in point. however small.

also, the badges are not free. you pay for them at your final checkpoint when you complete the ride. you will get a free certificate.

to be honest the only souvenir you will want from the day is the stamped brevet card. they are quite sweet looking. when you have signed in please keep your card somewhere safe. every year you will see one scattered somewhere along the route. and you know that means tears before bedtime.

as well as putting it somewhere safe. you might also need to keep it somewhere dry.

    bring. it. on.

  • No rain on metcheck but 17mph wind, 7 degrees will feel like 4 degrees.
I will stop obsessing with the weather. I am going regardless.

  • the weather is always perfect for riding on the isle of wight. FACT.

thats the spirit. if we Englanders planned anything around the weather, we would never do anything, (all you Aussies piss off laughing.)

  • @ damo. Thanks for the info. ( It did not turn up before that option )

Sorry, double check... damotrain itinerary is:

    Sun 2nd May = Victoria 6:32 am - Portsmouth 18:43 pm

    correct?

vee stop looking for the weather that you want.

i'm sure buddha sez something about that

  • Buddha says "be with what is".

  • I tried to book a train, but I seem to have ordered a falafel wrap instead.

    i'd wish i'd ordered a kebab

  • the badger will become a medal of honour.

    This is not TNRC

  • it's actually so i can show off to pascalo on sundays.

i'll have one badge that he hasn't got.

  • I will be in a good mood regardless of the weather. Camping in the rain just gives you better stories to tell. As long as there is a brew at the end (both of the tea and alcoholic variety) and as long as I've got some dry pants to put on, I'll be a happy bunny.

  • its gonna be fantastic! can't wait to try out my new tent.

  • joe, you're pitching a tent?

  • ^ ha :-D. I am 5.

  • joe, you're pitching a tent?

yeah, i find it is better than just laying the tent on the floor and trying to get into it.
