  • met check says slight showers but not a lot of wind.

as they say if you don't like the weather... wait a minute

  • Ok, I am doing this.
No idea who to join or whether is still possible to find a gap within the group who is overnight staying, that would be great, otherwise day-return would do.

p.s. does the possibility of turning up early in the morning to the station would work?

  • nice one cynthia... not sure if there are any slots... ask kattiep?

  • Was thinking of doing the Hackney CC ride, but this sounds much nicer. Adrienne has Sunday off, so I've just emailed her to see if she's up for this. If so, two more for the day trip.

  • Excellent news! (I'll bring the Garmin).

  • ha!!

  • nice one Mark. you getting the train with Damos party?

he is arranging packed lunches and name badges for us all

  • met check says slight showers but not a lot of wind.

as they say if you don't like the weather... pick a different website

I'm going with the weather channel, they still have no rain, just partly cloudy.

Need to get the "okay!" from Adrienne first. So no train bookings yet.

(too bad we don't have our tandem yet!)

  • i will NOT be sorting out your lunches.

    nametags however yes

trains should be booked at http://www.southernrailway.com/ using the £3-6 single ticket option.
    6.32 am departure.

the gang of four (now clearly reaching 6 or 7) will be getting the 18.43 home.

  • Shoots - whats your start position and time? we should be able to take off together and dro ptika on the climbs ;)

    Poised...with an air of anticipation.
Slightly hunched over, with my right leg raised a little higher than my left.
    Eyes forward and focused.

Kinda like a Cheetah waiting for the Gazelle to pass.

As for the time... Hmmmmm... hoping for sub 5hrs this year, but we'll see. Conditions not looking favourable.

    Yes to the 2nd part.

Adrienne, avec nous! Adrienne, avec nous!

  • Right then, travel all sorted, I am heading down the night before with the camp'n crew. A friend of mine (Anna) will be coming along with her dog although will be taking walks rather than riding the randonee.

I've booked the Victoria train with the others.

I have a tent but it's bloody heavy, I'm thinking of getting a lighter one if i can get it in time.
Should be sweet though, I haven't camped for ages.

    Slightly more optimistic weather report:
    http://uk.weather.com/weather/10day-Isle-of-Wight-UKXX1881

It wouldn't be a bank holiday weekend without some rain, eh?

  • dale and pip - good to see your names down and hopefully catch you out there at some point.

pip, will most likely be starting from the next checkpoint back from you but as shoots said we'll be on the airwaves on the day so reckon on seeing ya

  • i'm in! going for down, round and back in the day. Riding Fixed for my sins.

  • I changed tickets os now we are going on damotrain

  • Cheers Tika!

  • damotrain.
    awesome.

  • i picture a white train with black spots...

  • Poised...with an air of anticipation.
Slightly hunched over, with my right leg raised a little higher than my left.
    Eyes forward and focused.

Kinda like a Cheetah waiting for the Gazelle to pass.

    funny i had
"dark glasses on, head slumped over arms facing front wheel knees pointed inwards slight shaking with slight whiff of stale Guinness and roast pork skin

close but no cigar.. which comes after no doubt

  • why you cheeky, gooner-scum-lovin', timotei-using, big-ring bustin' mutha.....
...you are of course dead on : )
(i gots yer dollar n all)

  • Ok, so i'm knocking the whole camping shiz on the head, Bear Grylls style. The missus and I are staying at a B&B in Wooten.

If the weather is conducive for a BBQ, then we'll hopefully come and hang at the campsite down the road. Otherwise, the Sloop Inn overlooking Mill pond looks like a nice little pub for a rondayvoo...

  • Matt, awesome find! Bearded men with warm beers just couple of clicks down the road.
