  • Forecast looks a bit soggy.

  • anything can happen in the next 7 days,

  • kattiep twisted my arm today. will read and book in morning. anyone got spare sleeping bag and/or tent or even share?

  • Tika/JayGee/Vee/Wools
    sorry for the slight spanner

would you be willing to wait for the 9.40 ferry

yes/no/fuck off damo stop being a spanner?

So whats happening with tickets etc?

  • ok, i booked same as below. will be going on the fixie skidder with monster 61", defo cruising along!!

anyone have a spare sleeping bag?? or spare place in tent

I've booked the following (so go down sat arvo, camp sat and sun, come back monday). So far I've 4 definites, but it looks like there will be more like 15 of us. I just wanted to get it sorted so decided to take care of numero uno and all that.

    SATURDAY 1/5/10
    Train
    Lon Victoria 15:02 - Portsmouth Harbour 17:02
    Ferry
18:00 - takes about 40 min. From the Ferry, the campsite is about 1 mile so not far to ride with tent etc.

(Sun should be setting about 20.48 so we can pitch tents in daylight).

    SUNDAY
Set off on the 100km loop of the Island. Take it slow and steady. Stop for fish and chips/pints/icecream en route. There won't be any rush. I'm thinking 6 hours?
In the eve have a BBQ and have some cans.

    MONDAY 3/5/10
    Ferry 15:00
Train 6:29 - gets to Lon Vic 18:53.

    COSTS
I paid £56 for the train (4 people rtn)
£63.20 for the ferry (4 people rtn)
so £29.80 for transport + £10 for 2 nights camping.

    Bargain!

  • RIGHT:
    a call to arms:
is anyone else looking to get an early (terrifingly so) start to the IOW? I will be returning on the day.
You need to be on the same train (there and back) for a groupsave return.
so far it appears that the next groupsave was:
    1) damo
    2) non-forum friend of Wools
    3) Dropout
    4)

I'd been holding-off until I'd guaranteed Sun 2nd off work.

As Cornelius Blackfoot, Greasy and others said upthread, this was a cracking jaunt last year.

Big forum turnout should make for a nice group pic at the Black Gang memorial bench:

I am all over this. late entry so to speak. Work has cleared and i have the time so i'll join you lot on the day trip. and as is custom its big gear brakeless bag of grass and bottle of rum.. The only way to roll.

  • Nice 1 Pip.
May not even get to see ya, but here's hoping.
Will let you know our start, whereabouts, time etc. on the day.
    Stay on the airwaves

  • nice one Piip. Are you coming on the 5.02 train? It would be lovely to see you

  • Damo is on logistics so i think we get the train together Tika.

Shoots - whats your start position and time? we should be able to take off together and dro ptika on the climbs ;)

  • i'm sorted with sleeping bag, tent and even inflatable mattress.

  • What time are those people who are getting the train down on the day planning to start? I'm thinking it'll be cool (if the campers can get up in time) to start a little earlier and meet you lot at the checkpoint you're starting from. Be good to get a decent group of us going.
