  • Sorry John but it was great, sorry to hear you were stuck at work.

Thanks John Ma3k, I had a great time. And thanks Ian for the lift! At that point I needed it.

Ollie, if you're reading, did you really go and visit your Grandma? I thought you were joking but others didn't think so..!

Also, would be good to see the photos.

    Fox/Pete.

  • Yes! Proper popping ride! Last 10 miles for me was agony lol.
But super ride and many thanks for waiting when I punched my wheel.
(Note to myself – don’t go out night before, eat meal before the ride, sort out bloody saddle)

    here some photos

  • Another great MA3K ride. Perfect weather, lovely peeps - thanks to everybody for a great day. Even got a pint of Old Peculiar in at the end... the king of beers - Clacton can't be all bad then.

  • cheers everyone - had a great day of sun, chavs & flapjack. i also found that last stretch of road (essex uni - clacton) bloody gruelling, but made it in the end despite my screaming quadriceps. bumped into an old friend for the train ride home so a nice end to a cracking day.

  • anyone want to but 10 train tickets to Clacton?

  • Big, big cheer to Ma3k for organising this great day out.

    plus points
    great company
    perfect weather
    hardly any wind
so-so fish and chips (but served with good ale!)
    sticky-toffee-pudding
    no Hells Angels

    minus points
no Hells Angels (it's the potential of violence!)
bit chilly outside at 'Spoons (but we went in anyway, so that wa sorted!)

So, a big thank you to all for making this a day to remember.
@ Ricochet, nice photos, they really capture the moments. Particularly pleased to see you got a pic of Tom with sticky-toffee-pud!

PS. Tom, I haven't forgotten I owe you a pint (and Joe if your reading this)

  • Ian, and I owe you 12 miles leading a pace line at 22mph

  • yeah, it was a great ride, really enjoyed it - thanks to Ma3k for organising it, and to ricochet for the pictures!

    alex

  • ^hah! fish n' chips...I will say no more and wait for the photobenographic evidence.

Great day through essex, my longest ride in one hit and well worth it. A nice pace too. Thanks John! And everyone else.

And yes Fox, I really did go and visit my grandmother! I realise now I took a small detaour through to Holland-on-sea just down the road. When I saw the mobility vehicle showrooms and overpriced restaurants I knew the way...She made me tea and we watched Midsomer murders.

    And a couple of photos.

good job you had the garmin mate, well done for navigational skills!

  • +1 on owing Ian 12 miles at 22mph. And a pint =)

And yes props to Alex's level of preparedness, it was good you were so organised.

Nice pics richochet and Ollie. Particularly like this one of me, I was just swerving about for the camera but new facebook pic I think.

I thought the grandmother line was a hilarious come back in my tired post ride state, and found it rather amusing, but the fact you actually went is cool too. I quite like a bit of Midsomer Murders as it goes /middleenglander

  • ^ me too, I thought the "went to visit my grandma" was a joke (at first). I was wondering whether the pics might be of you and your granny!

  • Wish I could have come on this and alarmed that people were leaning!

  • I'm stealing this line, for some point in the future where nobody knows the original back story and it is all long forgotten. It might have been true, but it was still bloody good!

Can I reiterate: Do not lean. Please.

  • Great ride guys - Mr Moulton! I still have your multi tool! how can I get it back to you? Also there are only two pics of me - one is sitting down the other is asleep - this is not good, someone did take a picture of me on a bike I'm sure of it - post please :)

  • Great ride, cheers John. SHAME on those who ate Wetherspoons frozen fish & oven chips in a coastal town....

  • Your fish and chips do look better! I'm stuck at work and those pictures are making me hungry.

  • @ photoben
yeh, yeh, yeh, your fish & chips do look good, but we had ours WITH BEER!

  • we had ours with chavs.

  • Chav 'n' chips.

    As it were.

  • The Chavs were ordering Chinese rolls from the chip shop - with curry sauce! (vom)

The juice is not worth the squeeze.

Chav spotting is fun. I love going back to Essex, it reminds me why I left. Though next time I suggest Frinton as a destination, same distance and a much nicer place.

  • i grew up in frinton. nothing happens there. i mean absolutely nothing.

  • Chav fusion food!

The Chavs were ordering Chinese rolls from the chip shop - with curry sauce! (vom)
