contrary to popular belief, walton's (next town up) beaches are nicer. plus they can legally sell ice cream and the pubs are aloud to play music! as you say though, frinton's a lovely place to chill out for a bit/retire/die

Never been to Frinton, but I recall the 'urban myth'?
A motorway road sign which read"DOVER FOR THE CONTINENT"
and some wag had sprayed underneath:
"FRINTON FOR THE INCONTINENT"

@ Skully,
luck, no sir, not luck at all. The ride was on Yom Kippur when it's always good weather! -

we went past that place "[strike]fisting[/strike] fingering hoe" or something like that. i'd love to stop there and see why the town was called that way.

I liked the signs that said 'Do not pick up munitions as they will explode and kill you' when we passed the edge of that army firing range...

got my knees oiled up ready!
(okay, any excuse to start with the oil)
Ouch,. That must have been painful. But that's why I like Frinton, cause it's quiet, and probably the best beach on that stretch of the coast. But I wouldn't want to live there...
