It's almost TNRC season. Time to change that name to Night-Moe.

1xAA torch on helmet. Switch on for descent. Look around bends. Confidence inspiring.

Get a freewheel.

The former is something I've been thinking about.

Use the force. Trust your feelings.

Is this where we post that picture from Space Balls again?
-
• #6810
That would make me more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
-
• #6811
That wasn't the image I was looking for.

... I think someone's had a whiskey.
-
• #6815
I only drink whisky, of which I've had none. Good idea though…
-
• #6816
Aaaaargh, there's none in the flat. She's drunk it all :(
I'm having some chocolate to console myself.

i wish i had whisky. lots of whisky. not whilst riding in the dark though-leads to intimacy with too many thorny bushes.
what pace do you guys do when you're out night riding? Don't have the lumens yet but would be interested to try one of the courses you do in the daytime to see if I could cut the mustard. need to get more time on the bike and the turbo is getting stale!

About eleventy-twelve kph average with a stern wind.
-
• #6819
(it varies - bigger group equals slower speed; maybe cruise along at 16-18mph for the most part, but it's been known to wind up to more like a steady 22-25mph (even on medium fixed gear) for 5 to 10 miles near the end)

More like an anarchic clubrun than a chaingang for the most part.
-
• #6821
It's rubbish really.

Kent 2 becomes more difficult when you have to ride home afterwards.
Down hill all the way. Pretty much. I did sigh when we realised there was no more train though.
-
• #6824
hmm. might be a bit steep for me atm. even with gears :/

Once you got over the whole risk of death thing, how cool was riding on that motorway section though?
I enjoyed making it difficult last time :D
Yeah, the drag back up to the left turn after Codicote goes on a little longer than expected. The best way to negate this problem is to get in a medium gear (if you're not already in one by default), plant yourself firmly in the saddle, engage your glutes, firmly grasp the hoods or tops, drop your elbows, and power up the motherfucker. It's all over so much more quickly then. It's well sheltered, so there's never any headwind to speak of.
