I thought the same things, but they are probably a piece of piss to break with bolt croppers.

I've seen quite a few bikes locked up with hand-cuffs recently, worryingly they don't look like those cuffs so can only assume they're even weaker! May look cool but it's potentially a safety fail.

And you can really pick their locks with a pin.

Sounds like your regular East Coast homosexualist's accent to me, as featured in many ABC/NBC shows.

Most are opened with universal key
[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Handcuffs"]"Most modern handcuffs in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Latin America can be opened with the same standard universal handcuff key."[/ame] -

Seen today (sorry didn't get a pic) - dog lead (including leather handle that i think pops open?) And combination padlock - you know, like the ones on suitcases. Qmul bike racks by the library... 'fastened' round toptube only

Have never seen these outside of a shop. That's them - seen a few. Can't imagine they're that strong - surely if you (or a bike thief) were to pick the bike up & twist it, that chain would brake after a couple of rotations (at least before the bike tubing did)?

Of course, to an idiot, the sheldon brown method looks weak, so they might have a go and loosen the track bolt/quick release then fuck your wheel up trying to figure out out to remove it.
-
• #442
That's what I always fear too, but it is good for a quick stop, and also on ym polo bike with 2inch tyres it a lot easier than anythign else!

When push comes to shove, I think I'd rather have a few spokes broken/rim bent rather than the bike or wheel stolen. Of course, I'd still be furious, which is why I like to use the sheldon method with the inclusion of a chainstay or seat tube.

That's not the sheldon brown method then, that is just lockign your wheel and your frame to something

This has been outside my work for half an hour. If I had my lock with me I'd lock it up and leave a note. I can't be arsed to stand and guard it till the owner comes back.
