Will Kenneth Branagh be successful in bringing one of the best loved comics characters to the screen? Comics to movies have so far been very hit-and-miss. Now that technology has caught up with aspiration, we can enjoy the special effects like we imagined. But did Kenneth Branagh actually read action comics as a boy? I doubt it somehow. Comics fans make the best comics movies directors. Non-comics fans make things like the first Hulk.
Sorry for dumbing this intellectual discourse down. But I felt that this was maybe more apt in this thread, than in the Film thread.

one of my most precious possessions I have is the whole collection of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Mercenario comic created by spanish Vicente Segrelles. Its set in a fantastic medieval time when magic was as powerful as a sword.
One of the big points of it is that every panel was painted in oil., one of a kind.
If you like Conan, TLOTR, Willow or Dungeon and dragons, you will love this. -

My experince of translate Euro comics is that anything that has been done costs a fortune. Been lucky in getting some old Moebius translations for nothing much. I never understand why the big compnies don't push translate and sell these. They are often far superior to the tat many of them push.

Has anyone been following / getting confused by the new DC Comics reboot?
Picked up the last Flashpoint yesterday and am getting excited by the idea of loads of new stuff mixed with a little bit of 'oh god, another reboot'.
Then again: Grant Morrison writing Action Comics? Yes please.

Maybe inspired by the decent Dredd movie I've started re-discovering my childhood love of 2000AD, just finished the Apocalypse War and about to start on The Dead Man and Necropolis. I sold my collection years ago after my mum wouldn't store it anymore, but have been lucky enough to find a large collection of scans on the interwebs - happy tablet reading for the next year probably.
