A nice story behind a lovely photo there.

Great story oat44 and love the light effects in your pic.
You have done some lovely night shots. Really loved your pics from the last tag ride. -

I don't think it was at all stupid- what on earth is wrong with taking a photo of your bike, wherever it may be? Fear of completely innocent actions being misconstrued is the start of a fairly scary sort of paranoia...
Brilliant story. The things we do for bike tag- someone mentioned ages ago "when all of this is made into a film" and this scene will be a good'un.
Good pic too. -

I like how you 'dumped a push cycle' so neatly.

Awesome story and great photo!

Not sure if BTOB thread is the way to tell your fiancee that you've been subject to stop and search (Ali is sitting beside me now). She is laughing. Sort of.

For the record, Villa Ru's disputed tag hadn't been done before:
It is Clayton Street, off Kennington Oval to the Eastof the cricket stadium whereas OneLessCardigan's (?) tag was on Kennington Oval to the West of the stadium. Different location = different tag in my view.
But yes, same ex-military stretchers re-cycled as railings.Hmmm - maybe.
I don't really have a problem with re-tags (I think I point them out out of a misplaced desire to show I've been paying attention - tho clearly not that much in this case). It's more about giving the accidental re-tagger the chance to do something people will find a bit harder. Will (try to) keep quiet about it in future.

Phew! Wedding still on, thanks for the nice comments about the photo/story

oat44 just raised the tagging bar, I think.
Photo of your bike at the location, complete with a legal document proving your presence. Moving the tag location to the back of a police van might make things a bit tricky...
"'scuse me officer, can I pass on my phone call and just upload a couple of images to this web forum discussion instead?"
Total overreaction by the police - imagine if you'd set up a tripod and long lens!

Nice one Dropout for doing both, and great new tag! And my apologies to Villa Ru for pointing the finger.
I hope you're suitably Ruful.
Looks like I got my comeuppance last night when trying to recreate the Horseguards photo:
the text is a little difficult to work out, more or less as follows:
SUSPECT SEEN ACTING
SUSPICIOUSLY ON HORSE GUARDS PARADE
SUSPECT WAS SEEN TO DUMP A PUSH
CYCLE AND WALK OFF AND APPEARED TO
BE STANDING AND CROUCHING BEHIND THE BOLLARD
NO OFFENSES DISCLOSED, NO TRACE, ONE
SATISFACTORY STOPExcellent and worth quoting again. Did you show them the thread?

I hope you're suitably Villa-Ruful.
Mr S, I have to fix your pun again!! ;)
-
• #6664
He's called Ru. There's no need to insist that the pun include the full forum name. :)
-
• #6665
But for those of us who don't know Mr Ru we require his forum name to make the pun complete. No need to make L&W the Villain of the piece.

John the old stretcher tag wasn't mine.
Nick - repped obviously. Awesome photo, awesomer story. We'd have sprung you out if they'd put you in the slammer. Free the bike tag one

'Suspect'
Jeez, what a fucking bunch of tossers the pigs really are. Suspected of WHAT? And they had the nerve to say you're a bit weird?
That sodding SOCPA zone is an erosion of our liberty.

It's an awesome story, oat44
I had very little interest from the copper when I was there, but was facing away from downing st.
Can't believe I've become the subject of Oliver's puns.

Can't believe I've become the subject of Oliver's puns.
It will happen to all of us at some point. Embrace being Schicked, in the manner that Chainbraker would embrace a nursery member.

Oat44's story was brilliant, and it got me thinking of doing a video of my tag. Maybe how I started, the ride and of me taking the photo!
Perhaps a few tags can have a video from one to another and then obviously a still photo on here?
It would be nice to see behind the scenes of some :)
Go Pro of Bike Tag of Bike?

• #6672
Hey guys what is the current tag?
-
• #6673
Old tag: Horseguards. A very good riposte, Villa Ru, to the doubters of your original tag.
If this part of Whitehall is really going to be used as an Olympic venue? then what event?
Green welly-wanging?New tag: in accord with tomorrow's London's famous...ride, http://www.lfgss.com/thread79553.html#post2765762
this tag is underscored by a hidden river.this

Nice one Dropout. An excellent ride-related tag. Sadly only those at the back saw it, and then ales and curried mutton distracted us from a follow up
Unclaimed but fully endorsed

OK, Ok, you win.
great photo though
