or we could play a game of Bicycle Tag of Pub
-
• #3553
All new tags must be of, or include, a pub, once we have banked a sufficient number we do a pub crawl.

• #3555
there must be some very interesting pubs historically and visually. can't think of any off the top off my head, but from other cities i have lived in

I used to live next to Freuds in Oxford a year ago - above the charity shop called Mind.
There is also one in London, but without the grand building, but they do excellent cocktails. -

I'm nothing without google. I'll fail at AlleyTag. I'll just stay in the pub. I'm good at that.

The new tag is a bit of a trek but I'm thinking from where I live near Finsbury Park I should be able to plot a reasonably flat route. Also thinking of a well connected tag that could follow, just quite a bit more central.
If you give me a call, I'll make you a coffee or something :)
I live on the road with the blue plaque. Number will be in the mobile phones thread

^^It's not AlleyTag it's "TaggyCat" I need to make that name stick somehow...

Cheers, tho I'm thinking the only time I have a window to get it would be ridiculously early tomorrow morning. I'll give you a shout if I am there at a reasonable time.
And it's definitely TaggyCat, it's an excellent name.

new
no proper internet at the moment. Will fill in the details later.
New tag is next to the blue plaque for the person who created the location.ok, back from birthday dinner with a bit more time.
I see someone already posted the info abbout the location. It's a real london curiosity and a fascinating hidden landmark.
My new tag is also something of an oddity. It has a very misleading name and despite being rather old is still being altered today, albeit several miles from the tag location.
Easing north... initially green fields, crossed by lanes; but wait a bit! More hills! Inch over them and you're there. This one has really got me stumped. How about another clue?

First clue was enough! It's an easy one, just too far for an unmotivated SEs resident :(
-
• #3565
I've been trawling through the blue plaque listings and I can't figure it out :(
-
• #3566
This one's really easy, but a long trek for you. :)

gis a clue!

^^^^ Dammit. Are you in the foot tunnel much? We must have crossed paths but have i've not seen the orange and white yet. I have a Penguin Books ink stamp you might like...
I used to use it a lot- lived in
West GreenwichDeptford.I was going through it the other day as I was picking up the last bits of a parallel motion from another forum member (from whom I had picked up an A0 drawing board previously).
Tell me more about this stamp?

They are all easy if you know them.
This is the probably the most misnamed bit of water in London. Once you've worked out what it is, you can find out who built it, where he lived and then where the tag is.
My plan to do it early this morning was scuppered by moderate drinking last night. Might try and work it into my busy afternoon schedule.

... I haz an idea for how this can work - Live competition tagging, rather than going over old tags. (caveat - I can't remember what ideas others had earlier!).
Set out a restricted Tagging Area - eg. The City Square Mile - and have Base Camp at LMNH on Old St. Someone at Base Camp to have a laptop and printer (Mr Aroogah can probably do the honours). I presume LMNH has WiFi? Also - the City will be quiet on a Weekend.
Say for example we have 4 teams (of 2 - 4 players), the Tagging Area is divided into 4 (an area per team), and the first tag must be taken in the area allocated to the team (everyone is provided with an annotated map). Teams rush back to Base Camp and the tags are printed out and stuck up on a board with the team name marked on the print out.
Then it is up to the teams to go tag everyone else's tags. First team with a set of photos up on the board with their bikes at everyone elses' locations wins a bottle of Tag Glory. Use any means necessary to find the tags (bribery, corruption, wifi).
Depends on how many teams there are, and how long we want to play - we can have each team go tag twice at the start, or have more teams.
How about August Bank Holiday Weekend (Aug 27/28th)? As long as the ride isn't in September as we'll be away, I'm happy to organise the maps and any game details - I have a laminator so can print/laminate spoke cards as well (Scoot - throw up a design). If consensus is for this, I'll set up a Rides thread, and put our various rules in the first post.
