Finished my first book, although different to reading an actual book it's not "worse", will probably encourage me to read more.....so all good. I was well happy with the advent of mp3 as I'm more into the "spiritual ownership" of music than packaging or sleeve notes and I think I'll grow to like this kind of reading in a similar way....although I don't have sight problems the ability to change text size to suit is great, hate cheap books with small print that you can hardly read in low (bedside lamp) light.

my fav thing is the auto syncing of where I am in a book. So if I'm stuck waiting for someone, I can just continue reading on my phone. Get home, and the kindle has updated to the last page I was on :)
saves carrying a book around

Mine fell off the arm of a couch and broke. Amazon replaced it. Try calling them up? I also ended up buying the warranty. They're awesome devices, but the build quality is less than robust.

Just called - replacement will be with me tomorrow!
Awesomeness!
I may not have told them I sat on it. -

Finished a book on the train to Melton Mowbray yesterday, purchased and downloaded the next one in the trilogy on the Leicester>Melton leg of the journey and kept reading.
Beat that, paper.

Sat next to a very fat lady on the plane who definitely need to buy two fucking seats.
read the Kindle with just one hand as my other is unable to move due to the flab.

Since when did planes have fucking seats? Is this a first class thing?

Does anyone want to buy a kindle 3g for £130, barely used?

Got a 3G Kindle for my birthday yesterday.
Love it so far. Should we set up a little kindle lending library, as we now have that option?
-
• #488
We do? I am up for that if so, how does one do it?

Ah, misread a couple of google searches. It's US only for the moment, but will be spreading after it's been trialled there.
If you use a Amazon US instead of UK, then it may be in place already for you, but only to other US users.

Just seen this piece about custom screensavers.

don't really want to jailbreak mine as i don't want a nasty kindle surprise...
however, it seems to me that not having native personalised screensavers is a bit of an oversight. any ideas if amazon will add this in the future?

are 3g kindle owners using the 3g or is it pointless if you have internet on home? not sure what one to get..

free connection worldwide (providing there's signal) without paying a single penny, worthwhile.

100% worth it

£40 for free worldwide internet for the life of the Kindle? Totally worth it, even if you just go abroad once a year.

I have the kindle software (and therefore my library) on my Nexus One, my iPhone 4 and my Kindle 3G.
As they all update my account no matter where they are moving from one device to another is seamless- always on the current page no matter which I happen to look at.

basically like a choice between an iPhone and an iPod Touch with a £40 difference.
