  • Same account on multiple kindles?

This should work, only slight issue is all the Kindles on the same account will go to the same page that the last person to be reading leaves it at, if that makes sense.

    Frustrating I would think.

Plus, I would want it to be my account, to keep my b0oks, and therefore it would be MY credit card...

  • Not really if you turn off the wireless.

    @ dammit.

  • does the forum still get a tickle if i link from here and buy a kindle? how do i go about this? buying two this week

  • There is a link in the first post. I think that it is linked to give the forum a kick back.

  • It's via the affiliate program- if you click on a link to the kindle and purchase it then virtual magnets make sure that some of the money is drawn back to VB's pockets.

  • Which kindle is the best atm? I'm giving in now.

  • 3G - free internet access anywhere in the world.

  • Aside from the 3g. Which make/model etc.

  • the current one.

  • Has anyone got any Bibliotik invites going spare? I've been using Usenet but its turning out to be very hit and miss in terms of coverage.

  • having discovered that German TV is shit since my move here, purchased a kindle instead of having hard copy books sent over....was also hoping web browser would work over free 3g, so far (a couple of hours testing) it doesn't.... only for book purchasing etc...

  • I used the browser loads when I was in Paris, accessed Twitter, Google Maps (doesn't work very well... map scrolling is... weird), and Gmail.

    What's not working?

  • It doesn't work in every country. Worked in the Netherlands last time I was over. Broke in Amsterdam before we got to Karlsruhe so wasn't able to test it.

  • now I've change location and it works...must be mobile network dependent?....has difficulty with the search box on this site.

  • So do most members.

  • same

  • thoughts so far..

Why I got one? I just moved to a foreign country and donated to charity hundreds of books before the move, now hugley regretting that decision.....figured buying English language books and having them shipped from the UK would be costly and inconvenient so opted for a kindle...

Using: I like it, reads great and images, though black and white, are better than I expected, battery life is amazing, web browser is limited but OK, considering it's free....fine for checking email, however struggles with data input boxes, site searches and is there a back button? Interestingly you can pay to have kindle deliver blogs to your device which theoretically are free if you use the browser!

No regrets as yet but after paying 7.99 for a novel recently it struck me that there may be no competition in pricing, I'm probably never going to get the opportunity to buy a book "on sale", I can't "borrow" books, nor buy reduced price second hand books.....

Are there any options for any of the above, is it possible to convert books to pdf? would this be considered piracy? when until recently lending or giving someone a second-hand book wouldn't have been.....are we buying a "book" or a license to read?

Too true. It's not Amazon though, it's the publishers. The publishers are currently dictating market price, I think in time they'll get spanked by competition law, but right now some publishers are over-pricing their books.

Anything you do will be considered piracy, but if the book publishers wish to make the same mistakes as the music industry I don't see what other choices you have. In which case, you might as well go the whole hog: http://bibliotik.org/ < Torrents for eBooks

  • how does one get an account for bilbiotik?

  • I can't remember who got me my invite, but unfortunately I don't have any invites.

The key thing though, is torrents for books.

You can find a load of ebooks on pirate bay.

can they be read on a kindle as pdfs?

  • Some on usenet too if that is any help, eg. 976.Kindle.Books.Collection-EBooks

  • Most are TXT, or ePub and you just use a program called Calibre to convert them. It's pretty simple, and you don't have to worry about it.
