  • spotted that last time I was in London actually, pulled up next door to LMNH....

  • and this. setting up a bike just like this for winter/shopping.....

NEED to know where that front rack thing came from. can you buy ? or will i be in the shed cutting up old cymbal stands and shoe racks to get me one ?

    need one of those.

  • spend a lots of money on the bicycle but not on a pass & stow rack?

  • It has a coaster brake.... those Pass and Stow racks looks good, might get one for mine.. cheers for the link!

I was talking about the Rixon.... not sure if you were...

  • two hundred and fffffffuck me.

shed, saw, drill, bolts, one of those plumbers tools for bending pipes and a thousand cups of coffee.

The stem is fugly and it feels a bit like it's trying too hard. Honestly, a frame like that actauly deserves a proper paint job.

  • I do, really like the dropouts tho.

  • whats with all those tight clearances?
    are those 650 forks..?

  • yeah,

There is a brush in the crown to make sure the tread touches the ground, clean.

  • there's a mini edscoble up there guiding the brush as well.

  • NJScoble

  • Nearly Japanese Scoble?

  • Scobre

  • Awesome...

  • My practical beater

531 (main tubes only I think) Carlton frame, Deore/MA40 wheelset, mix of other bits from spare parts I had lying around. Biopiss chainring (because I had it in my bits box) - can't say I've noticed any difference. Sheldon says chain tension isn't a problem, but I think otherwise... it's fine for singlespeed but I wouldn't want to try it fixed. Frame is protected with linseed oil which gives it the slightly yellowish look - no rust at all though, and it dries to a hard gummy finish.

How long does the linseed oil take to set/dry? any close ups?

  • It takes about a day. I put on one coat of oil over Easter and another one about a month ago. I'm gonna give it a key with some wire wool and do another coat in the near future to prepare it for winter. It's a much better option than WD40/machine oil/grease because it doesn't need regular reapplication and it doesn't rub off on your clothes - if you don't mind the yellowy colour, that is.

I'll take some close ups at some point.

  • I see, quite like the colour- but can't help but think the hipsteresque filter is adding to it somewhat. That aside, looks like a very reasonable winter build!
