They do hit under sharp turning. I'll try out an old skool BMX post first - the ones with the bend in them to see if it's any good. If not I'll find a donor bike and add a seat tube further back

Do you mean the rear track ends? I absolutely love how they extend further than they really ought to.

That gear (36x13) is only good on the flat or down hills as the cranks are so short and it's practically impossible to get out of the saddle and put any power down. A good thing that's what I intend to use it for then.
