Send that to the next shower of shits that go straight for the victim blaming undertake option.

My heart jumped into my throat at that video.

Too common, the majority of time I've seen are always near misses with drivers not even being aware of the near collision.

Aww...he seems like such a nice man...

never mind the fact they're all driving on the wrong side of the road.

Why is it always when it's wet that people decide to suddenly turn across you without looking or indicating?
Yesterday a cab driver who changed lanes to overtake me then immediately turned left, I dodged his rear bumper by millimetres. And this morning some white van cunt who swung into the bus lane directly in front of me (I was only saved by a swift kerb hop) and then started kicking off at me when I asked what he thought he was doing.

Blame all the cyclists!

Didn't they hand out twice the amount of fines to motorists last time? Let 'em get on with it.

Proportionally no. I can't remember the figures but cyclists were massively over fined compared to motorists.
-
• #4815
Well, still a shitload of drivers fined:
http://www.fieldfisher.com/personalinjury/blog/2014/operation-safeway-motorists-hit-with-record-number-of-finesAs for the cyclists, if you can't spot a copper at a junction then you deserve to be fined for running the red.

• #4816
yeah, cyclists are 2% of traffic and got fined disproportionately:
http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/public/cyclesafety/article3944231.ece
Police have fined 755 cyclists for jumping red lights and other offences under an operation launched in response to the deaths of six cyclists last month, Boris Johnson said today.
But the Mayor of London insisted that Operation Safeway was not “picking on cyclists”. He told a meeting of road hauliers that 1,392 drivers had also been fined for jumping a red light or talking on the phone while driving. -
• #4817
awesome. now lets have a clampdown on people walking around rough estates without stab proof vests.
-
• #4818
So cyclists are 2% of traffic and got more than half the fines. pffft.
-
• #4819
yeah, cyclists are 2% of traffic and got fined disproportionately:
http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/public/cyclesafety/article3944231.eceIt's a bit silly though isn't it? "disproportionately" but they were all breaking the law. I find it hard to muster sympathy for anyone who was caught. Might it not slow down some of the same nodders everyone is so keen to complain about in the other threads?
-
• #4820
Now, if the coppers were letting drivers off for doing the same shit, well that would be different.

50:1 is just the proportion of road users, of people who actually harm anyone else then it's nearer 1000's to one. Given a fine ratio of 1:2, this is clearly disproportionate.

• #4822
but if it's for people jumping reds it's much easier for a handful of cyclists to do so in a single go. with cars it's normally just the front car that gets through. so cyclists have more opportunity to fuck up per light phase.
-
• #4823
It's reinforcing the attitude that it's people on bicycles that must bare the the responsibility for inattentive and shitty driving.
-
• #4824
Wait - is hippy an alias of Jeez?
-
• #4825
there were reports of cyclists getting tickets right next to vehicles illegally in the ASL. The police had targets for cyclists, none for drivers.
God I hate that junction.
