After reporting a dangerous driver of theirs this morning who almost took out a cyclist and then blasted straight through a red on Bayswater Rd.

this sort of lazy stereotyping about the cars people drive doesn't do anyone any favors either. how far removed is it from 'bloody cyclists, they all jump lights'?

You drive a BMW don't you?
They may be lazy stereotypes to a degree but it's more like saying that all people riding a crabon roadie bike ride faster than those on an old Dutch bike, not a universal truth but likely to happen.

Got this back from this e-mail address - Crackdown@met.police.uk.
More than I expected and more than I got last time.
Dear Mr. Ridler,
Thank you for your submission to Roadsafe London concerning the incident
below.
You provided details of the vehicle concerned and all appropriate checks
have now been undertaken.
From the information you have provided, but without further
corroboration, police will not be taking any further action however a
letter of warning has been issued to the driver & company concerned.
We appreciate this may not be the outcome you were hoping for however
would ask that this does not deter you from making further reports to
Roadsafe London. Please be advised, Roadsafe London is not an alternative means of
reporting road traffic offences or breaches of Highway Code Rules with a

How else did the Druids get to Stonehenge?
-
• #4085
seriously - follow him on twitter and see some of the batshit nonsense he comes up with. his favorite being how cars are 'essential' and anyone not in command of an internal combustion engine is a drain on the economy. just dont reply to any of his delusional idiocy - he'll block you and call you a troll. It is also worth noting that all of his followers are either his sockpuppets, or cyclists.
oh and godfrey bloom. his 'patron'.

It's well known that the A303 was one of the Neolithic architectural wonders that typified the amazing forethought shown by our ancestors.

Don't bother reporting incidents to Royal Mail about their drivers. Go straight to the Police. They are incompetent at perusing complainants.
I had a driver in a 7.5t DAF lorry shouting at me to pull over whilst I was travelling at the same speed as the traffic between 20-30km/hr on Hackney Rd. I obviously didn't as my road position was safe and was not causing harm. With his manner of driving, the number of side roads and parked cars it is safer not to get caught along side such a vehicle. He didn't like this so took to scare tactics to get me out of his way, accelerating within 0.5m of my wheel before breaking, on two occasions whilst shouting from the cab window. Reg, time and location taken and reported immediately to RM. 3 days later I receive a letter saying it has been dropped as they don't have the reg recorded, even though it was given to them, along with obviously my address and telephone number. So furiously I spoke to them to complain again, with their response that they will investigate. A few weeks later I chase it up and was told it is under investigation. Leave it till now with no word from RM, so chase them up again. This time I'm told they have dropped it because the telephone operator had not taken down the time. Again no effort in contacting me to find out the information that they had not written down on the first occasion.
Dangerous driving should not be investigated in this way! Complete incompetence.
It has now been reported to road safe, but without a witness and this amount of time after the incident I fear nothing will be done.

So mums a simple question. Would you prefer your kiddie hit by half a ton of metal doing 20 MPH or not at all because the driver saw your child in time?
Keith peats view on 20 zones is that it's wrong because drivers would have to look at the speedo , what a cretin
-
• #4090
Yeah, I'm a lot safer doing 45 but looking up.
It's really not difficult to keep a car at a constant speed. Even if you are checking the speedo occasionally it's pretty fucking easy, you don't even need to move your head, just a flick of the eyes like rearview mirror checks. -

What's the deal with Roadsafe these days? Worth doing?
Saw a huge tipper truck this morning, driver peeling an orange. Have reported to company. Want to do more. Also, minicab tonight came right up behind me on wet road, I was turning right so got into RHL, she beeped me - scared the shit out of me as she was so close. Wish I'd got company name but just got reg.
Where do I go to report?
-
• #4099
Interesting comments there. Imagine the vitriol if it were a cyclist in the driver's position....

How defensively are you meant to ride to avoid things like this?
Cycling along approaching a narrowing in the road. A motorcycle passes me, followed by a van!
I always feel like I am being a nuisance riding in the middle of the road, however seems like you need to...

Dear Mr ,
Thank you email.
Firstly I would like to express my sincere apologies for the dangerous driving of one of our employees, and would like to thank you for bringing the matter to our attention. At Ocado, we take pride in our professional reputation so it concerns me to hear that we have so fallen short on this occasion. Additionally, Jason Gissing, our founding Director, is a keen supporter of The Times ‘Cities Safe for Cycling’ campaign.
Using the details you provided, we have now identified the driver of the van at that time, and we will ensure that his manager takes the appropriate action to ensure a similar occurrence is not repeated.
Our drivers are fully aware and trained at the highest level to follow the Highway Code and to be careful, considerate and safe especially when driving near cyclists and pedestrians. You have brought great concern to us regarding the way this particular driver drove so dangerously near you and nearly caused an accident.
As part of our driver development programme we cover in detail the risks associated with vulnerable road users, including cyclists. This is a key part of our induction course and refresher training programme. Educating our drivers is paramount to us; as an example the LGV instructors are currently delivering a bespoke course to all our LGV drivers to raise their awareness of the risks associated with sharing road space with cyclists in London.
Thank you once again for bringing this to our attention and please be assured that we will do all that we can to make sure that this does not happen again.
Want to contact us? You can email us at ocado@ocado.com or call us on 0845 6561234 (8am-11pm everyday)
Yours sincerely,
Andy Bailes
