• I might have to actually ignore this thread. The net result of reading it seems to be that I get the shits about riding my damn bike. I get the fucking fear every time I see one of those frikking vids.

  • It's crazy. Hope they do him for dangerous driving, he could have taken out 10 guys in one go.

  • Last night an arsehole in a white van pulled out from a side road right in front of me causing me to slam on the brakes and hop up onto the pavement to avoid a squishing... YC60 AAV you're getting reported you selfish little shit. He's seen me as he did the hesitate... na fuck it, it's only a cyclist before pulling out from the side road to my right.

I couldn't tell if it was a company van, there was something like tevo or tivo written on the side in white offset by a red background

  • Virgin media by the sounds of things. Glad you're in one piece mate.

    thanks

yes so it is... now to complain to them

  • Tevo? What about this lot: http://www.tevo.eu.com ?

Edit: ^ oh, ok, it is Virgin.

  • Btw, I did review-bomb Berkshire Carpets across a few sites, as well as adding to their Facebook woes. Honestly, what a dick.

  • I know a guy who drives a Virgin van, if all their staff are like him your lucky you didn't catch an STI at the same time.

finding a contact detail was not very easy... spoke to some management bod and they're passing it on. I feel less than satisfied with this

  • "I know a guy who drives a Virgin van, if all their staff are like him your lucky you didn't catch an STI at the same time."

Sorry to hear that, are you getting proper treatment?

  • Nah, just using ice cubes.

  • I went to Malta last year and was amazed at the attitude of the road users. There must be some rule of the road but if there are then no one abides by them. However, it all works well. There is a kind of benign anarchy to road use. Everyone does what they want but no one gets wound up by it. It's all relaxed and easy going.
So someone has blocked the road? Ok, they will move in a minute. So someone pulls out on front of you? Ok they are going somewhere, just like you.
It was very strange indeed, but incredibly pleasant to ride/drive without all the hate fuelled rage so evident in the UK.
    Must be the climate.

They have a low number of fatalities per head of population, but as this article points out, the roads are not comparable with larger European countries and they have not made much progress bringing the numbers down

  • My family is Maltese and I lived there for a year- and can confirm that they drive like nutters.

There is also basically no MOT, so anything goes. There is also, come to think of it, no drink driving enforcement of any kind.

I was driving back home one morning when I passed the local baker driving along in his escort with his pony trotting along next to him in the outside lane of the dual carriageway- he was holding the reins through the window.

  • Do all the buses still have shrines in the front?

  • Isn't there some trick for getting cars/bikes on the road in the UK that involves registering them in Malta?

  • Only if they've been weighed first.

berkshire carpets and blinds are run by bigots that think its ok to threaten and harm cyclists . Also there drivers ogle school girls in uniform out side schools

    TREVOR, l APPLAUD YOU!

  • In Malta they will accept an English driving licence with no questions asked.

In the UK a Maltese driving licence is not sufficient to drive on UK roads.

I went to have a look at the driving test centre to find out why this was- its because the entire driving test was driving round a corner marked with cones in a car park, then reversing into a box, again formed from cones.

  • these road narrowings arent all that effective kids, take care
    Poole, 1600, today

  • How the fuu..?

  • That's actually kinda impressive! Bet the van's a write off.

  • The damage is likely to be fixable, but knowing the prices of plastic bumpers the insurance company will most likely write it off.

  • I honestly can't work out how they did this.

  • They just drove straight towards it Oliver, the.exterior posts are flexible as you can see, have seen heaps of these on the same section of road-tend to just plough in and occupy whole post area-this is the first lucky man to get his truck propped up on second post.
