• @megoid, if you get no joy from the police you might be able to wrangle the registered address of that car. It would be a shame if some rancid milk managed to get into the flow through ventilation system. I hear the place to pour the milk is that slot between the top of the bonnet and the bottom of the windscreen, which is a high pressure zone and pushes air through the ventilation passages into the inside of the vehicle. I also hear that the smell will never go away.

  • hoonz you are a BAD MAN. But I like you.

  • ...... I hear the place to pour the milk is that slot between the top of the bonnet and the bottom of the windscreen, which is a high pressure zone and pushes air through the ventilation passages into the inside of the vehicle. I also hear that the smell will never go away.

Blended with prawns and left in sun for a week..

  • wow, emailed the person in charge of the case, and I've just had a reply back (that's been less than 24 hours) saying progress is going to be rather slow, given that the vehicle was crapping-well hired and not by an individual but by a company. no wonder they guy was laughing so maniacally when I started to yell out his license plate number. But apparently due to lack of independent evidence and the circumstances regarding the incident the worst they'll get - if anything - is a warning.

@oliver, I'm all for having presence on the road etc and it's a turn I use almost every day, I was being over-cautious that day as there was bus parked up on the left near the right turn - so was giving myself plenty of time/space. Was more than 50m between me and following car. Dude was totally speeding to cover the space between us so quickly but yeah, I communicated alright (without swearing I might add), as he was undertaking me to hoof it through the ~1m gap between me and the bus at 30mph.

So, I see little hope of getting to redistribute any rancid milk (though i have taken notes hoonz & brave, thank you, evil has just reached a whole new olfactory level) which is a dang shame as I actually just happen to have the end of a pint in the fridge which smells about ready for action.

  • Well, that's an outcome of sorts--wouldn't have happened a few years ago. Good to hear.

Good work on communicating skills etc. I wasn't assuming you didn't, I just say this every time to stress how important it is (also to non-posters who may be reading this).

And that nonsense about damaging someone's car is obviously just meant to let off some steam on-line and, I'm certain, is not meant seriously. It's important to be humourless about it, as some people may take it literally and assume that some people think that it would be a proportionate reaction.

    this made me laugh (sorry).

Of course, I do not condone damaging anyone's personal property. I have only "heard" that such mischievious skullduggery occurs from time to time.

  • cheers oliver, & yep i should have added 'winky smiley face' when i was talking about the milk - it's all just hot air on my part ;) and I had kind of assumed the same for the others ...?

@veevee i've never been able to produce the cutting wit required in these situations & failed to come up with the goods again ... so it was either stand there like a muppet or the do license plate thing ;) I do now have this fab mental image of him as a disney bad guy doing the classic "moo-ha ha!" evil laughter whilst driving off and me squeaking out his plate on the side of the road kaff-kaffing in his dust :)

  • Of course, I do not condone damaging anyone's personal property. I have only "heard" that such mischievious skullduggery occurs from time to time.

    I concur with the above.

  • Always remember that there are some very impressionable people reading this forum. They may not grasp the irony.

  • Are you being ironic? Sorry if I missed something.

  • Fair point, I thought about adding a disclaimer. For clarity, I'm not being ironic at all, not even in a winky-winky doubly ironic kind of way.

  • After 4 months of Sainsburys doing sweet fuck all about one of their drivers I have decided to report our entire conversation to roadsafe.

the formatting will be hideous but hope it makes sense

What is your problem with finding the information and taking appropriate action.

I gave you the registration number and the date and time.

You must have these records and they cannot take 5 months to access.

You would have no leg to stand on if he crashed into another cyclist during this time.

Your response is beyond inept, it is actually negligent.

    Dear Nick

I am sorry but this is not an acceptable response.

I am unclear if you have even bothered to work out who was driving, and this happened over a week ago, in which time the dangerous driver carries on to destroy your reputation as a company, your loss not mine. I will use Waitrose and Tesco in future.

This lorry of yours kept trying to aggressively overtake me on the Mortlake Road at about 10.45 this evening.
I was riding a bicycle, eventually he overtook me but then cut back across my path, missing me by inches.
I am feeling quite lucky to be alive right now.

  • fuck, how do you cut and paste text into here without all that idiotic formatting crap coming through

  • cut and paste from a text editor not word / your email client.

So try cut and paste to text editor, clear clipboard then copy and paste the clean text from the text editor to here.

  • cheers tommy

its amazing how different the response from ncpm24 and sainsbury plc

  • No worries! They are not likly to care anyway as I'm sure they have loads of these complaints.

Even in Emails DJ is aggressive!

  • fuck yeah

this kind of crass complacency deserves a verbal assault

  • here is the end of my correspondence with sainsburys

Why do you even bother making contact.

Just send out an email saying "we dont care and we cant be bothered to do anything about our idiotic psychotic drivers!"

At least it would be clear where you stand on such matters. 5 months of me chasing you up for this seems pretty futile.

Your response to date has been worthless and meaningless.

Do you feel you add value to the world?

    Dear James
After waiting for a response from the human resources department about your complaint, we have not been provided with any information regarding the action taken against the driver. As it is not a Sainsbury's distribution centre they are restricted as to what information they can provide. Generally, with these types of complaints, they are dealt with at the depot and we are not informed of any disciplinary procedures. Unfortunately, this is all I can tell you at the moment. We're grateful for your patience and I apologise for being unable to tell you more.

    Kind regards

  • "Do you feel you add value to the world?"

    What a brilliant summation.

  • Am I meant to feel bad for that comment?

  • What do you think the chances are of having a driver reprimanded without having the registration number?
My other half was riding home last night in a cycle lane coming towards Vauxhall bridge, when a 'Big Bus Tours' bus came along side her. The driver mouthed something to her that she didn't catch and the swerved the bus towards her pushing her off the road.
She was too much in shock after having been run off the road by a bus to take the reg No. There was a cyclist in a suit who approached and ask if she was ok, then went after the driver and had a go at him.
I asked if she knew of any reason why she thought me might have done this, and she said that was the first time she'd seen him, and was traveling on a straight road so couldn't have got 'in his way' previously.
We have written a letter of complaint to the company but fear that nothing will come of it as we don't have the reg.
I personally would like to find this bloke and come at him with a tank but I doubt we'll get his details.
    Cnut.

  • I'm afraid that my experience tells me that lack of reg plate will scupper chances of action. When I was driven into and then assaulted by a nutter in full view of a stonking great CCTV camera at the junction of waterloo bridge and the strand the other week, the police told me that it was not a proportionate use of their resources to look at the CCTV footage.

As ever, keep reporting this shit but don't expect results/media stardom/satisfaction etc

A similar thing happened to me on Queenstown Road with a Big Bus company. I was going at traffic speed but a Big Bus behind me came dangerously close to me revving his engine. When we stopped at a traffic light I turned around and he pointed at the cycle path on the pavement and proceeded to come very close to my back wheel. I shouted at him that I did not have to be on the cycle path. To my surprise the car driver in front of me came out of his car and shouted at me pointing at the cycle path. grrrr. Anyway the light changed and the car driver blocked the Big Bus as he couldnt go into the right lane which was stationary. I waved and left them. I felt like a right banshee shouting at the bus driver.

I took the number but never contacted them. The driver calmed down when he saw that I took his number. Empty Big Buses are on my commute and I try to stay behind them as much as possible, most of them go too fast, take too many risks with all road users. I know several cyclists who have complained about them.

  • reading about all these motorised bullies makes my blood boil. Funny, when you see estate kids doing wheelies on busy roads and just riding about you never see drivers giving them any ag what so ever.

Is there a market for dummy camera helmets? Anytime some one of these unhinged idiots gives you shit just point to the camera and tell them you've recorded them, no?

    A poll?
